Last week, my handsome mister Samson celebrated his ninth birthday! It’s bananas that this kid in NINE in what has honestly felt like the blink of an eye. I’m a lot better at keeping on top of posting these days on instagram than my blog (especially since I can do it on the go and with just my thumbs!) but I want to be better at getting back to the longer format blog pages because there is something about posting over here that just makes me feel like I’m home....

it’s a week of birthdays over here and i absolutely love it. today we got to celebrate my ever so sweet and handsome samson rex who turned 7 years old! we had birthday candles in cookie dough at the breakfast table this morning before present opening and then again at his hibachi dinner tonight at one of his favorite restaurants....

today marks samson’s 6th birthday! which means it also marks the anniversary of one of the happiest days of my life. josh and i talk often about how much we lucked out with our samson. he came to us so easily, an incredible surprise we found out about when eleanor was only 7 months old. after a pregnancy full of craving raw vegetables (still shocked and confused by this!) and a mere 8 minutes of calm and easy pushing at the hospital the following May (something else i still can’t get over, normally my birth experiences are messy ordeals i don’t necessarily care to revisit), this little guy stole our hearts in ways i didn’t know mine was even available for stealing....

“samson, this is the sign you make if you want a drink of water…” she motioned with her hand while she walked beside him, their backpacks bouncing up and down hitting their backs with each stride they took. “…and this is the sign you make if you need to go potty…got it?” he mimicked her motions with the biggest smile on his face and i swear my mama heart was all sorts of bursting as i walked along side them watching and listening as eleanor gave samson the last run down on kindergarten while we walked to school yesterday morning on their first big day....
