so, i have been wanting to learn the beautiful art of calligraphy forever. and my talented friend virginia (whose graphic design work and beautiful penmanship you often see on my blog here) is basically the queen of calligraphy. her stuff is so good, and everytime i see it, i’m like, “naomi, you ought to at least step up your block letters!”
and so i’ve been telling her for almost a year now, “i want you to teach me.” trouble is, when it comes to me and doing anything, especially something new, i have to properly carve out a time and put it on my calendar, or it doesn’t happen....
magnolia bakery invited eleanor and me to a little frosting lesson at their bakery yesterday with bobbi lloyd, their chief baking officer! E invited two of her little friends (and i invited their mamas) to join us and spend the morning frosting up a valentine’s day storm of cupcakes and cookies! i’ve never been that great at frosting stuff (do you remember E’s leaning birthday cake last year?...
we got to see my beautiful twin sisters for a bit this week. since they celebrate a birthday next week and will be back at school, we decided to grab some birthday cupcakes yesterday afternoon and head to the park to enjoy the glorious weather together before they had to leave us. i can’t believe how much everyone is growing up… both have sped through college with one in the midst of planning a wedding and the other prepping for a full time 18 month mission for our church
(she just received her call!...
arrived in d.c. yesterday so of course, we had to go!
i feel like we already have some of the best little bakeries here in d.c.
so adding sprinkles to that list just makes me an even happier girl.
