I loved my friend carly’s blog post last week where she asked the question, what are you looking forward to? You know, as life “after” this phase of heartbreak by way of pandemic subsides and you can hug friends again and hop on planes and go to the theatre. This exercise was rather insightful and a little bit therapeutic for me, as I’m realizing the last 12 months have shifted so much of who I am (or who I was) and what I once lived for has kind of taken a bit of a back seat in my “after” dreams....

pantone of 2021: what’s up yellow!

So, something exciting was announced at the end of last year (and considering I am a sucker for all things yellow and even titled my book, A Coat of Yellow Paint, can you guess what I’m getting at?!) Pantone announced two colors for 2021 and one of them is a glorious bright yellow. five minutes into the new year.

On the last day of 2020, we ate take-out deep-dish pizza for dinner picnic-style on the floor of our kitchen and introduced Madalena and Beatrice to their first cups of sparkling apple cider. “You like it, mom? It’s too spicy for you, mom?” Beatrice said as she casually stole my cup once hers ran low.  She is my only child who calls me “mom” instead of “mama,” and I swear in this moment I caught a glimpse of her future adult self and I’m still a little bit shook....
