sharing some photos from our service project at the food bank of new york which happened last saturday. i just have to say THANK YOU so much to everyone who came out and volunteered with us. i always love the chance of getting to meet you in person, but getting to do some good work together while we get to know one another is truly my favorite.

there are so many sides to social media, but i really love when we can use it to share, encourage, relate and learn from each other. i especially love it when can build community through these online connections. saturday was the perfect reminder to me of all the good social media can bring, while meeting you and doing something meaningful together. as a group, we were all able to package up 6,700 pounds of food together in the span of just a couple hours, which will feed over 5,600 new yorkers in the coming days.

for those in the area looking for chances to get involved, food bank for new york city offers volunteer opportunities of all types, for individuals or groups, at the warehouse or all around new york city, morning or evening, and some that can include children!  many thanks to them for helping us organizing this service opportunity for all of us.

there are so many other wonderful ways to serve everywhere. if you don’t live near the city, i hope you can find and share with us in the comments the types of service opportunities that inspire you! i love my online community so much. thank you to everyone who came on saturday! and thank you to all of you for being so amazing!

The way you share your life with the world is inspiring. I appreciate your honesty and your blog is a breath of fresh air in the social media world.

I look forward to volunteering with my kiddos who are currently 2 & 3. Did you volunteer with your kiddos at these ages? I’d love some ideas from you and your readers of what to do with littles. Yay for online community :)

What a foundational thing to do with your kids—and community! We have been looking for ways to teach our children these principles and love that this is so kid-friendly.
