a little date to see pipilotti rist!

back in 2008, i discovered pipilotti rist through an exhibition she was doing at the MoMA and i fell in love with her work called ever is over all. there is something about it that almost put me in a trance, where i could literally spend an hour just watching the same 3 minute clip in a loop, seeing and discovering new things each time i watched it, and piecing together a different story as well. also, that music (with the clashing of the woman’s flower against the car windows!!!!). it just stuck with me and even all these years later, i think about it. i went back to the MoMA so many times while that exhibition was running, and you can see my blog posts on it here.

she currently has a big presentation happening at the new museum downtown called pixel forest and it is insane. when i heard it had opened, i sent josh a text like, “WE HAVE TO GO RIGHT NOW!!!!!!” also, such a sweet surprise to see that my favorite piece, her ever is over all, is part of the presentation. the exhibit takes up 3 entire floors, and it actually shares works from her entire career with pieces dating back to the 80’s. it’s so fascinating to see it evolve.  she does a lot of incredible things with videos and music and sounds, i’m excited to go back. we’re going to take the kids next time, i want to share it with them.

here’s the piece i was talking about! my favorite! love when the police officer walks by her and gives her a smile and a nod. it’s just so good. love-taza-lhhf74301-17love-taza-lhhf743-4

this man who is looking into that crate, is looking at this tiny room you see below that had a video spanning across one wall of it!

This looks amazing. And you do nothing to curb my impulse shopping – ggrrr! That sweater <3

  5. Harriet

I love that 80s-style purple sweater!

I think there is an unwritten rule that if you are old enough (me, not you) to have worn a style the first time around, you are too old to wear it now. Otherwise I’d order it right this minute!

I saw Eleanor trying these shoes on in your insta video a few weeks ago and fell in love! I was looking everywhere I could think of for them and found a couple options, but none went up to size 11 (the curse of big feet!) Finally I found them! http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/en_US///Women/Shoes/Low-Mid-Heels/Adalide/p/47875920-98
I just ordered them a couple days ago and scored them for $35 with their sale! They should get here next week and I just wish they would get here before thanksgiving!
