LOVE TAZA US OPEN 201679NRJBG-30

we took the kids to the day session of the US Open on monday! this is always one of our favorite things to do together when we are in town for it, and it’s pretty much become tradition for us.

we saw kerber win the women’s match and nadal win the men’s. the kids always pick which player they want to win and cheer for, and they both choose the winners both times! for the most part, all three of our kids sit so well for tennis matches and it makes me happy. i think they really enjoy it. they’re both starting to grasp how the game works, keeping track of points and games, and all the rules and everything so sometimes we’ll see eleanor sitting so quietly and so focused on the game, knowing when to cheer or not, all on her own, and it’s very sweet. samson is close behind her as well in that area.

conrad actually napped for the majority of the men’s match which was kind of amazing because it helped josh and me to really focus on the tennis going on. the arthur ash stadium now has shade because the cover screens are finished so sitting there in the shade and feeling a breeze definitely added to our experience. also, i had the best pretzel of my life (more on that below) which i’m still thinking about, so yep, it was a good time.

by the way, i know many of you have asked for details on these sneakers from my instagram pictures, but here is a link to them! and here are other sizes (they are sold out in a lot of places right now.) i am obsessed. i think i said to josh like 5 times the first day that i wore them how comfortable they were and how happy that made me. he’s so confused why it’s taken me up until this year to finally embrace comfortable shoes. who knows, at this rate, maybe i’ll go for the warm coat over the cute coat this winter. ;)

you’d think my five and a half years as a mother would mean i’d know not to buy a chocolate ice cream bar for my toddler the minute we get to the stadium, but alas, i caved and it happened. so yes, conrad’s shirt was covered in chocolate stains the rest of our time at the US Open and he looked really awesome! i still space packing an extra change of clothes for this child and every single day i’m like, “HOW.” one of these days i’ll pack it and carry it all over this city only to never need to change his clothes and be like, whatever.

samson was holding his toe like this for a good long while and i just thought it was super cute. might have been because those baby birkenstocks are still my favorite thing ever.

he might not know at all what is happening on the court, but this guy knows how to pick up on clapping cues from the people around him and he loved participating!

so, this might not be the case with all the pretzels at the US Open and might only have been a fluke from the particular stand we visited and bought pretzels from, but you guys, this pretzel was so good. i had josh snag me a second one (i basically ate pretzels for lunch!). it was the best combination of soft and doughy and warm and everything else you dream a giant pretzel should be and it made me all sorts of happy.

in-between matches about to take a walk around the grounds to go down for a nap! conrad’s crooked sunglasses crack me up so much. sometimes he doesn’t even wanna take them off indoors. he loves those things.

eleanor picked these new sneakers out for school that starts soon and she’s probably worn them everyday since she’s gotten them! purple and blue and glow in the dark, it’s like they were made for her.

  5. Camille

I’m always so amazed at how well behaved your littles are at tennis matches! My son is 2 weeks older than Conrad and there’s no way he would’ve stayed put haha!

  6. Amy

Oh how fun! Thanks for sharing. My hubby and I are big tennis fans (we even named our cat Wimbledon). We have traveled the world for tennis and love it. We took our 5-year-old twin girls to their first tennis match earlier this year. They just took their first lesson this past week and loved it. They can’t wait for their next lesson.

What an adorable family you are! It looks like you had a wonderful time, it’s on my list for next year. I may have missed Wimbledon when I moved over here but it’ll be super cool to go to the US open.

Does the US Open air on television? I went back to your old US Open post when it was just you and Josh. So cute!! It’s cool to see when the kids came along and how big they’ve gotten. I’m sure they’ll appreciate this tradition.

  9. Paula

I love that you get out and do so much stuff with your 3 kiddos. They are rock stars, as are you and Josh. If you didn’t have the blog, do you think that you would have been as adventurous taking them traveling and doing all the great things you do as a family together? Just curious.

  10. Kelly

This looks like such a fun day and I love that E is really getting into it! One of these years I will have to make it to the Open but for now, I will just get a pair of these sneakers!

love these photos. as samson gets older, i feel like he is becoming your TWIN. especially in the photo you took together above! on an unrelated note: you have amazing eyebrows. do you fill them in? if so, what do you use? i have brow envy! ;)

  14. Divya

What brand are the kids’ sunglasses?

  15. Cheska

Hey Naomi! I’ve been going through all your New York guides in preparation for my week in NY this coming Thursday. I’m super excited, but at the same time super nervous about what I’ve been hearing about Hermine. Since you actually live in the city, does it seem safe to be going out there? I know you’re not a weather woman, but a personal account of how it’s been over there would be great if you don’t mind. I don’t actually know anyone out there. I’m a little freaked. Haha. Thanks! And thanks for the guides!

  16. Kate

These pictures are the cutest. I adore that you can see the love you have for your family just GLOWING off you!!
