some changes to Love Taza site layout!

new-2

hi everyone! we have some fun changes taking place on Love Taza over the next few weeks regarding the blog layout and i just wanted to share a bit about it as these changes begin to take place!

i know many of you have commented or emailed over the past few months about the images and content on my blog taking a while to load, and we’ve been working on our end to find ways to improve this. you might be noticing a yellow “read more” button in each blog post, which just went live today to help each post load faster while also allowing more content to appear on the homepage than usual.  i was hesitant for months (if not years) to make this change, just because i definitely didn’t want any of you to think i’m doing it as “click bait” (making you click on an individual post to get more page views on my end). that’s not why i did it and the page views statistic is not what matters.  it should help with loading time and also allow us to enlarge the photos and content in each post (hooray! because the left blog column has felt very narrow and tiny to me for ages now!) this is one of the biggest driving factors as to why we now have the yellow “read more” button as well, so that the enlarged images and content in each post wouldn’t add to the already slow loading time.  we plan to have all archived content and new content enlarged in the next week or two! anyway, i just wanted to share that first change as it goes live today so you are aware of it and the reasoning behind it! it might take a bit to get used to, and i’d love your feedback in the coming weeks as you try it out. be on the lookout for a few other small tweaks and updates to the site, too, like the bigger images!

josh and i have been working on several exciting projects for 2016 and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to in the coming months! it’s incredible to see where this blog has taken us but it wouldn’t be anywhere without any of you! i love you guys so much and i’m excited to share more of what’s to come down the road!

Hi! Just wanted to say I just found your blog today and I love it! It’s so nice to see such a cool, fun, yet informative blog where the owner doesn’t think they have to use a bunch of swear words to get something through to their audience. Your content and pictures are great and I am really going to enjoy following you. Im a mom and wife who has just started her own blog(smeebe.com)and really hope I grow into something as wonderful as you have here. Thanks Naomi!

I really enjoy your blog….we lived outside of Princeton, NJ for 6 years, my husband commuted into NYC 6 days a week and we LOVED it. We are back in TX now and REALLY miss the east coast, so your blog helps me stay connected to my favorite city on earth!!!!

  6. Tammy

i definitely don’t mind the “read more” button! if it makes the loading process of all of your beautiful pictures faster, then go for it :)

  7. Martha

A lot of blogs are structured this way, especially photo diary blogs. It’s not click bait at all. Looking forward to the changes!

  8. Samantha

I’m not a fan of the “read more” buttons but I’ll deal because I can see why you did it. You guys are great! :)

  9. Karishma

I really do not mind clicking on “Read more” for your fabulous content! And to be honest, it’s just so refreshing how you explained the reasoning behind this decision. It really goes to show how much you care about your readers and followers!

  10. Kristen

    larger pictures :)

  11. Nanette

  12. rebecca

I like the new “read more’ button… if its easier to get caught up on the posts I may have missed :)

Happy 2016! Can’t wait to see what you have in store… I’ve been reading your blog for years (before you were pregnant with Eleanor! <3 )

    Lots of love! xx

  13. Mara

Hi, are you enlarging the typeface? I’m only 33 and do wear glasses, but I just had to enlarge the screen to 125% on my laptop in order to comfortably read this post! Love your writing.

  14. thanks a lot Taza for these changes and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
all the best to you and your family for this new year.

    aww I understand

I’ve always loved the fact that I can just scroll through your website without having to click in and out of each post

But I guess it must be done.

Love that yellow button though :)

  16. Paige

Not a fan :/ I’d rather it just load all at once so if I missed posts or want to go back I don’t have to click back and forth, waiting for each page to load.

  18. Quiana

Hi Taza! As a fellow blogger I appreciate these updates – the “read more” option is something I’ve considered as well but have yet to install. I loathe jump pages, but I feel ya on your reasoning. Over the years I’ve enjoyed looking to you for inspiration and am excited to see what you have in store for 2016.

  19. Brit

Will you be updating your FAQ at all to update any new camera changes for vlogging/ video editing info? I saw a few others asking in comments what you used and thought it’d be helpful if you added the info the FAQ. Looking forward to seeing all the cool changes and posts to come on your blog!!! Well wishes! :)

  20. Sammy

    Sounds interesting…

  21. felisha

Your photos are so beautiful and high quality, I definitely think they deserve some more space to reflect that :) I love the sidebar and all of the content, but it would be nice to focus more on the posts. The “read more” may just do the trick – but I totally understand being hesitant about it! Also, for the record – I’ve been reading your blog since the DC days and never had an issue with loading on any connection.

  22. Mara

In the way of feedback, it did take a long time to load previously but today it loaded super quick! Mission accomplished ?

  23. Hope

I always love your pictures and so many people already use the “read more” bar, so no worries! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for your new posts! I always look forward to seeing what you have developed and how you capture your family’s life :)

  24. kelsey

go taza! :) been reading your blog from the start!

  26. claire

love you, naomi! your blog is beautiful and i look forward to visiting daily :) xx

  27. ghina

    I love the yellow button!
My only feedback is, can you make link in each post for the previous and next post, so that it’s easier to navigate between posts? :)

  28. Rachel

New changes are great- I am excited! Could you possibly make the blog easier to read for mobile phones? I also have trouble reading the light grey text sometimes on certain screens. However, I will read the site regardless! Thanks for all the great content!!

  29. KJ

Thanks for letting us look through this online window to watch your darling family! I’m excited to see what you post about your upcoming trip to Australia. I have family there that we’ve never been able to visit, it will be fun to see what you do!

Your family though, seriously the darling-est.

  30. Hey!
Love the new feature, it will definitely help with loading content.

Thought I’d say a quick hello since I’ve never commented on your blog, even if I’ve been reading for years! (Checking one thing off my 2016 things to do ;p)

Looking forward to reading more of your blog and seeing where your travelling spirit takes you and your family!

Love the new changes! You do such and amazing and great job on the blog, and I say that as a mama myself, wife and woman. Naomi, you and your family are truly inspiring.

    Best wishes from Spain!

  32. kerry

Re: your australia trip. If by the GBR you mean Cairns? Then you should definitely visit Green Island on your way out to the reef. You can snorkel there and walk around the beautiful island but most exciting of all is the crocodile farm that is there.
Very up close and personal (but still safe) afterwards the ranger will let you pat a baby crocodile if you dare!

  33. Jazmyn

Can’t wait to see the changes hoping with it comes a smaller sidebar and larger post area. Love seeing your photos! :)

  34. Anne

As a new mom myself, I often reference your blog for mom tips, buys and such. ‘Read more’ definitely helped with the loading but would love to see mobile friendly version as I’m often on my phone or tablet when reading your blog! Also sans serif fonts or a darker copy would also help for easier reading, otherwise your blog is just peachy! You and your fam are super cute and I look forward to your posts :)

  35. Madeline

Excited for the new changes! I totally understand your feelings toward the Read More button, but nevertheless embrace it. Everytime I see it I feel there is going to be so much to read and see! Kinda like a present, ha. Anywho- love your blog, and excited to see what’s to come.

  36. emilie

It’s ok…I just don’t like to press “Read More” in order to see all the post…Oh well.

  37. RT

I love your blog but I hate the extra clicks. I makes it hard to read it consecutively like a reader. It just seems simpler. People Need to get better wifi!

  38. All blogs need a refresh from time to time! Excited to see the next changes and everything you have in store for the year!

  39. Jenna H

Thank you! This has made the mobile site much easier to use! Yay :)

  40. Meg

It’s always nice to switch it up once and awhile! I can’t wait to see where the year takes you and all the fun you guys have along the way!
