top of the rock!

so, i’m not exactly sure how we’ve lived in new york this long and haven’t ever visited the top of the rock, but we finally got around to it last week and you guys, it’s amazing. we were able to go on a day that just barely required jackets (this weather! still confused by it but loving it just the same!) and enjoyed hopping from look out to look out together with most of the observation deck all to ourselves.

i’m not sure if you’ve noticed just yet our coordinating clothing coloring combo. (i know, i know, but i cannot help myself sometimes!) Polo Ralph Lauren kindly sent us a few of our favorite pieces from their collection, all available this holiday season at Macy’s.  it feels like perfect timing too, since i’m definitely one for coordinating seasonally appropriate outfits for the entire family for christmas card photos or for getting that picture with everyone on santa’s lap! the first time eleanor first visited with st. nick as a baby, she was actually wearing the cutest and most festive Polo Ralph Lauren sweater, and even though she hated the experience, those photos of her screaming on his lap are kind of endearing to me.  and i still have the baby sweater! i mean, you never know if there might be one more baby joining the davis family one day!  gotta be ready. ;)

a few photos from the morning at top of the rock….

put your hands in the air like you don’t care, conrad!!!!

heyyyyyy, good lookin’. ;)

yep, it’s not often these days i put on red lipstick and high high high heels. felt super fancy and special. and also, yep, my feet hated me by the time we got home.

i mean, teeny tiny skinny bowties on dresses! i love.

still not ready to even entertain the idea of calling any other place home. and with this weather in november? i love you so much, new york.

he didn’t care much for the views and was extra squirmy in our arms because he just wants to walk walk walk everywhere! i am dying over him in that little navy vest! also impressed he didn’t mind it and kept it on! now if only we could say the same for his hat!

such a fun morning. i really can’t recommend checking out top of the rock enough if you’re ever wanting to see an epic sky line in manhattan.  and thank you so much to Polo Ralph Lauren for sponsoring this post!   you can check out their GIFT GUIDE over at Macy’s, if you’d like to get an early start on your holiday shopping, possibly looking for some options for family photos (with christmas card season upon us), or attire for the entire family for holiday parties! they have a ton of amazing and festive options!

  6. Felisha

The Top of the Rock never gets old for me. These photos are amazing – not only because of matching outfits, but for the fact that there aren’t 200 tourists with their iPhones out around you. It looks like you have the entire place to yourself!

  7. Alli

    I love Eleanor’s dress, but I can’t find it… Is it from Macy’s?

  8. Megan

These pictures are absolutely amazing. I also cannot get over Eleanor’s little collar and skinny bow on her dressing (dying right now)!

    Hi naomi!
I love your blog and have been following it for quite some time now. I’m about to graduate college, and after visiting New York in September I’ve decided that I want to apply to graduate school over there. I was wondering, many people say that the stress of the city is too much for them and that they would never raise a family there, but I very much so would like to raise my family there. However, I do worry about the amount of people, the crime rate, the pricing, also I think I’ve been watching way too much Law & Order. I guess my question is…How do you do it!?!?! Raise a family, navigate, SURVIVE in NYC, and is it actually a stressful city to live in???
