new york city guides!

nycguidespostlast year, we made a series of taza’s new york city guides detailing the best things to eat, see and do in several of our favorite neighborhoods in new york city.

with labor day coming up this weekend, as well as my favorite season (autumn in nyc cannot be beat), i just wanted to share a few of the videos and guides we put together last year for anyone new to or planning to visit the city soon!

you can find everything under our “nyc guide” tab up top on our Love Taza site. there is a printable map outlining all the subway elevators HERE (helpful if you’re coming with littles and a stroller) as well as tips and tricks for getting the most out of your time HERE.

you can find all the neighborhood guides through this link, but a couple of my favorite videos from the guides are below.  see the full lists of things to eat, see and do in each detailed neighborhood post.

these guides are so much fun to put together! special thanks to jenner brown for helping us do so. have you used any? we hope to update them and make a few more soon.  come visit us in the city! and if we don’t run into you during your stay, i hope you have the best time ever!

this is wonderful. My husband and I would love to take our boys to The U.S One day and New York would be on top of our list. The videos are great and the food looks INCREDIBLE!!! ?
I want to know how you stay so thin with all the food goodness around you. I bet you all do a ton of walking.
Thanks so much for sharing. Your posts are always so inspiring. Much love x

if you visit the US, NYC really is worth checking out!
and you’re nice about my body. i am not in shape at all right now, but am trying to make exercise more of a priority so i feel better and healthier. the walking and schlepping help a lot. or at least help justify in my head what i’m eating! haha!

  3. Hi :)

I am a Brazilian living in Denmark. I am going to NY on Wednesday and am super excited! I watched all your videos and took notes. They were essential on my trip planning.

    • TAZA

yay! have the best time here! i hope you love it.

I was in NYC in June and I absolutely used your guides! They were such a BIG help! I tried planning our trip spending each day in a different part in the city, so they were very useful for me. I think I used all your recommendations for Central Park and Chelsea neighborhood. There is so much to do in NYC and I wanted a true New Yorker’s perspective to explore the city. Thank you so much!

    • TAZA

love hearing this! so glad you had a good time kate! come back soon!

  5. Indira Gjoni

    love, love, love your videos!

  6. This is great! I wonder if you have one for good restaurants that will accommodate a stroller. I know we ran into that problem when we visited NYC, granted we had a honking huge double stroller too. I always like to map out where the good bathrooms are too in a city, esp. with my kids in tow! I love the guide for elevators. We are thinking of visiting the High Line in the fall, once our baby starts walking. Can’t wait!

oh that’s a good thought about restaurants accommodating strollers! i can’t think of a list off the top of my head, but i know many restaurants try to be super accommodating. you might have to fold it up or leave it in the lobby, but there are ways around having a double stroller in the city and not being totally annoyingly obnoxious with it. at least that is what i always tell myself. haha! :)

  7. Thank you for sharing these! I recently moved to New York from Dallas and looking forward to checking out some of these places, especially the ones UWS!

  8. Christina

Love this guide! I went to grad school at Bank Street and lived on the UWS for 2 years, so I totally agree with your neighborhood suggestions!!

Hi! Hubs and I used them last November for restaurant recommendations!

We went to: Sarabeth’s, Jacob’s Pickles, and another one that you recommended the chips with blue cheese dip… can’t remember the name. We enjoyed them all!! And we had a celebrity sighting at Sarabeth’s that I am clearly going to talk about forever. :) Amy

    • TAZA

the smith! i know that chips and blue cheese dip well! glad you had a good time and those are some of my favorite UWS restaurants so you did good!!!!

My friends from college and I came in March and we had a blast. Your guides were a huge help! We tried organizing our days by visiting midtown Manhattan, West Village/Chelsea/SoHo, Central Park, & Brooklyn so we could get the full experience. There is so much to see in your incredible city, thanks for sharing some of your favorites!

Hey Naomi! I’ve been totally inlove with your blog for the longest time, but just recently got around to watching your NYC guides…just watched your guide to Soho+Nolita and was really excited to see you love Sabon! It’s a well known Israeli brand, and it just made me want to give you a shout out from Israel! So anyway, if you guys ever decide to visit the Holy Land, my family and I will be more than glad to show you around (our boys are also the same age as S and C!).Anywho, love your blog! Keep the good stuff coming xoxoxox Martha

Maybe you can help me with something that Google can’t…we’re headed to the city soon and we’d like to go up in a tall building to get a good view. I know about Top of the Rock & the Empire State, but I’m looking for something free! Like a tall department store or something. Do you know of any place like this?

p.s. I love your guides! They’ve been a huge help while planning this trip. :)

    • TAZA

the view is really beautiful from the time warner building at columbus circle, you see part of the park and a bit of the city! also, the met rooftop has a stunning view of the park and city scape. it’s pay what you want admission, so you choose the price. have so much fun in the city!!!

Used some of these videos to help me plan out my first big trip to NYC back in June. I even caught a glimpse of you with the littles at the splash pad outside of the Museum of Natural History. Definitely a fun way to end the trip. Hope to see more videos soon! I’m heading back in a few weeks and have been rewatching them to see if there’s anything that I’ve missed.
