some very exciting news! Pippit is here!

pippit-blog-postafter almost two years in the making, josh and i are SO excited to finally share with you something we have been working on long and hard with our friend, joy cho. it’s a new app, and it’s called Pippit!

we started this conversation years ago… what we liked and didn’t like about social media, how we were often turning to our mobile devices throughout the day instead of our computers for updates on everything… from ordering groceries and shopping on our phones to even updating and reading blogs!  joy and i also began to notice how many of our blog readers were now keeping up with our blogs on their mobile devices over their computers. all of it was and still is fascinating to us. so we put our heads together and tried to think of what was missing from our experiences with social media, and how we could make it better.

with the idea of social media complementing blog content, we wanted to create an app that allows you to share your photos, your videos and your blog posts all within one platform. so if you have a blog or website, you can add your rss feed and those who follow you will automatically be updated when each of your latest posts are published.  if you don’t have a blog, but like to read a few, then you can follow your favorite blogs within Pippit.  pippitblog1

another fun feature of Pippit is the chance it gives you to add several dots to photos and videos, allowing people the chance to go directly to the moment being shared with them. dots can be filled with helpful info or any hyperlink of your choice, so you can find the exact shirt someone is wearing, or recipe someone just made, or how to find the museum they’re visiting.

we’ve also created ways to not only “like” a photo or video or blog post, but you can also “want” it or find it “useful.” this way, if you are scrolling through your feed and you see a recipe or DIY you might want to try at some point, you can click “useful” and it will be stored in your “opinions” page for future reference.  you might see a cute pair of shoes on a friend’s feed and not have the time to click over and shop them right then, but you could click “want” and have that information stored in your opinions page for a future rainy day when you feel like shopping.  i really love this feature because i feel like i’m always taking screenshots of things in my social media feeds so i can reference them later, but then i forget about them because they are so unorganized in my phone’s photo album. and i can’t ever seem to find the one i’m looking for! so having a place to store information you find helpful or important for later, was a really big feature for me! i’m so excited about it.  pippitblog2

there are other great features too, like conversation threads so you can reply directly to a comment and have conversations with others in your feed without anything getting lost.  there’s also an analytics page (so you can see where you’re sending traffic via your links, etc) and a way to “amplify pips” so if you’re following a lot of people, the “pips” or content from those that you interact with most on Pippit (say, your family and close friends) will appear larger in your feed if you choose.

you can see how Pippit works in realtime in this little video we made last month in LA:

i hope you’ll check it out! it’s available now in the app store through your mobile phone! (you can find me there as @TAZA and josh as well as @TIESANDFRIES.) the app is a paid app ($1.99 with the choice to resubscribe each year) but Pippit won’t ever have ads in it or other things interrupt your feed.  we really want this space to be your space, so you can use it and enjoy it how you wish.

also, we’d really love to hear your experience and feedback with the app as you try it out. our end goal is to make a really solid mobile platform that is beneficial and easy to use for everyone so we can all get the most out of our social media experiences. we are always looking for ways to improve Pippit with each future release, so please let us know what you think! and, with all things tech-y, we’re still trying to iron out a few kinks this week, so if you have any issues when using the app, please do let us know as soon as you can at [email protected] so we can fix them straight away.

we’re so excited that pippit is here! hope you all enjoy it too!

  9. wow – so incredibly excited about this!!! cannot wait to be home and try it out. i do the same thing with taking screen shots and losing them in my camera roll.. it can be frustrating when i’m cleaning out my album and suddenly i see the pie i wanted to make for last thanksgiving/christmas. or the DIY-anything for that matter. so i’m looking forward to this!! :)

  10. ps: congratulations.. i’m sure a lot of hard work went into this! :)

This sounds exactly like something I need!

Will you be rolling it out in different platforms? I use an iPad but also have a Windows phone.

Great idea ladies…this is going to be the next big thing. Downloading now…

  14. Looks great! Is it available for android too?

  15. Faith

  19. Taylor

Congratulations! What a pretty and cool app! I can’t wait to try it out!

  20. Eva

    Sounds great x

  21. Quick question! Maybe I’m just dumb but is there a way to insert a pip dot into a post made by your blog RSS feed? Like into the picture? Or is it only in the pips you put up on your own? Excited to use this as a blogger and a reader:)

  22. Dalia

Congrats! I’m so excited to try it! :)

  23. Pilar

congratulations on this exciting new adventure. i just downloaded it from the app store, and am excited to check it out.

  24. Wow, this is a really great idea… I’m keen to head home and spend some time playing around with it after work tonight. I’m the same with screenshots (and the problem is half the time after I’ve screenshotted something I want to check out later, I completely forget about it as scrolling through my photo album on my iPhone is not something I’m in a regular habit of doing… I love the idea of it condensing all of these likes/wants in one place, and it also looks really cute in the way that it is set out. Good stuff, can’t wait to check it out properly!

    Jemima x

  25. notsure

I have a question! If I buy the app for 1,99$, will I have it forever or will I have to re-buy it every year?

  26. I’d love to try it out, but like others I’ve spent years using other apps (Instagram, Pinterest, Bloglovin) and I’m hesitant to drop them completely. Do you have plans to integrate with any of these? For example, can I automatically share pips to Insta and Pinterest?

    Thanks and congratulations!

Thumbs up for a rad entrepreneur.

  27. Jasna

Yay Naomi! Great news! You go girl!

  28. lola

But, why to pay for something that we already have access to freely? And… recommending brands is also a way to offer ads to the users, Naomi.

  29. Wow, it looks amazing!!!
I´m excited to try it out :)

  30. JUSTME

I have a question but I can´t post it! My question is: if I buy the app, do I have to re-buy it every year or it will be mine forever? Thank you.

    • TAZA

the app is $1.99 with the choice to renew your subscription each year for $1.99!

  31. Brooke

This is AMAZING! It is going to be so useful and fun, which is a mighty good combination! Can’t wait to go and get it!

  32. sarah c

Congrats! Wish I could use it, but it seems like it’s only available for iphones? Hoping an android version will be released soon!

  33. Allison

Just downloaded it! Can’t wait to use it!

  34. amanda

the “lovetaza” profile isn’t built out yet :( it’s also set so you all follow requests have to be approved, you should change it to automatically accept or your feed will be inundated with requests!

    • TAZA

hi! you can follow me on pippit as @taza! thanks!

  35. Katie

Congrats!! I have to know where you got your name rings from?!?!

  36. Tiffany lorenzana

I’m loving this pippin idea. This is awesome. It’s like Pinterest meets Facebook meets Instagram. Meets blogging meets google. Speaking of which taza I love your rings where did you make those at? Add that to the pippin site. Love ya

  37. Elena

The App sounds so good! But I need to know about the name rings too :)

  38. sam-c

seems like a useful and cool app. just watch out that your food doesn’t get cold while you are pipping it.
do the pips show up on instagram if you just look at instagram on the computer? or no?

  39. Marin

congratulations to you and your family! the app looks great and I can’t wait to try it out. happy for you!

  40. Laurie

Looks like such a cool app! Congratulations! I’m curious, how did you come up with the name Pippit?

  41. I think it’s great when people try to invent new things. Is this like instagram, bloglovin and pinterest put into one?

  42. sarah

Love this idea but what about us with androids? I think you’re missing out on a huge audience by leaving that out…

    • TAZA

if all goes well we are working hard to have an android version next!

  43. Congrats!!

Feedback: it will be great to be able to
    1) to edit old feeds to add dots and hashtags
    2) to filter My opinions in terms of wants, likes, useful

    Lovely app

    • TAZA

we have that note on filtering opinions into blocks of “wants” “likes” and “usefuls” for our next update! thanks so much for sharing!

  44. India

This is awesome! As a blogger AND a vlogger, I need a place to share both! Can’t wait to try this!

  45. Tanya

Yay! I’m all about Apps that simplify my life especially now that I’m running after an 11-month old. Great idea and name.

  46. Liz

This is really cool! I just downloaded it and I’m sorry if I’m missing something but can I get all the blogs I follow to show up, or just those who use Pippit? Also, what is the news section for?

    • TAZA

as of now, just those using pippit in terms of the which blogs you can follow. the news section is to share who has commented on your pips or followed you, etc. shares all new interaction. :)

  47. Jillian

Congrats! Can’t wait to check it out!

    Hi Naomi,

Super interested in your new venture, sounds like it could be a great little online space. I have a question for you, though. My sister and I run a blog together,, so if we did get the Pippit app we’d want to have one account for both of our phones so that we could both post as authors/users. We do this through Twitter/Pinterest/Instagram by having one log in that we can use. Because Pippit is paid, would we be able to do this? I would imagine that both of us would need to actually purchase the app, but am not sure if I want to do so if it won’t allow us both to share a log in. Let me know, thanks so much!

    • TAZA

hi! i think you’d both just need to know the username and password for the pippit account in order to log in from different phones to use the app! i hope that helps!

  50. Congratulations! I will have a deep look at it :-)

  51. Bea

this is a wonderful idea….what about android?

    • TAZA

we hope to have an android version next! thanks so much for your patience!

  52. Shelly Monroe

Sad face, not on Android phones, but congratulations on your exciting new app launch. It looks amazing!

    • TAZA

we hope to have an android version next! thanks for your patience!

  53. Nassari

This is awesome! Great job! Can’t wait to download it and use it!

  54. Hope Olszewski

Sounds like a great app! Do you think you’ll expand to android?

    • TAZA

      we hope to next!

  55. Lauren

This is brilliant! I follow so many bloggers on IG only as I never have time to jump on my laptop. I find it so hard to keep up with a follow everyone I love, so this is exactly what I’ve been thinking I need to keep up! Thanks so much, downloading today!

  56. This is so fun! I’m an author and we’re always looking for news to reach readers. It’ll be interesting to see if this app could benefit us. At the very least I’ll be following some of my favorite blogs:)

    R.S. Grey

  57. curious

in terms of keeping track of things you like/saving them for later, can’t you just use pinterest on your phone, rather than taking screenshots? what are the advantages to pippit vs. the mobile pinterest app in this regard?

    • TAZA

on pinterest specifically perhaps, but i haven’t found something that does this in any other app. for example, i am a big instagram user and always find myself taking screenshots on my iPhone of friends photos where they did something i want to try or wore something i’d like to go find…

  58. ashlee

Cant wait to see it avail for android

  59. marlena

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! can’t wait for an androit version!!!!

  60. Naomi,

I never comment (so bad!) but I wanted to say congratulations on the launch. I just downloaded it and REALLY like it. The “pip” thing is genius, and will be incredibly useful as a both a blogger and a blog reader! I recently noticed that whole “like to know it” phenomenon on IG and was thinking that it just seemed so silly to have to “like” something, then have an email sent to you, then click the link…just a lot of work and run around for one item. So, I really love how direct Pippit it. Plus, it’s so fun to say. ;)

Anyway, just wanted to say YAY for you guys, and send a huge hug your way. What a great day- cheers to your accomplishment!

  61. Kelsey

Really interesting! Is this why Josh quit his job? Will you guys be making more apps?

  62. Olya

Naomi, is there a way to see what my friends a liking/saving? One head is great, but more is always better!

  63. Olya

PS : LOVE pippit. I stumbled on it apparently tight before you announced it – I wondered if I missed something, but looks like I was one of the firsts to know :) SO sorry if I spoiled your announcement when I rashes to my IG feed to share my finding – I am so happy it’s #1 , because it deserves to be!

  64. Julie

looks amazing! But I wish it was available for android. :( I would totally buy this right now if it were on android.

  65. Kate

Congrats! Excited to check it out.

  66. Lizzie

The App Store says feed follows are an in-app purchase of $1.99- does that mean I have to pay $1.99 for everyone I want to follow? Otherwise, sounds great! Congrats on the big project release!

    • TAZA

No! It says “in app purchases” just because you have the choice to renew each year. The app is $1.99. There are no other in app purchases!

  67. Victoria

Congratulations! Slightly off topic, but where are your name rings from? I’ve been looking for something like that for ages! Thanks =)

  68. Alaina

This sounds great but are you going to offer it on Android?

  69. J

What makes this different from the free version of feedly? Maybe I just don’t get it…?

  70. leah

I have an android and my concern is, will my IG friends be able to see my pictures still through pippit if I don’t have the app?

  71. Hi! I commented on insta (@thehappeningcollective) but I thought I would ask here too.
1- if someone comments on my photo and I respond do I have to tag them or will they be notified Facebook style?
2- I accidental typo’d on my etsy link on a dot… I can’t figure out how to edit it. Is it possible?

    Thanks girl! xo

  72. Shelley

Would love to see this on Windows Phone as well. :) Congrats and good luck!

  73. Anna

wow, it really looks amazing!! i’ll have to check it out for sure! congratulations, i’m sure this was a lot of hard work!

  74. JUSTME

Hi Naomi, thanks for your answer, but I’m afraid it didn’t help me… The thing is: after a year using Pippit, will I have to pay again every year in order to continue using it? Thank you!

    • TAZA

yes, pippit is a paid app with a non-renewing subscription. the subscription for the first year is included with the purchase of the app. it does not auto-renew. at the end of the first year, you will be alerted that the subscription is expired and be prompted to purchase another one. you will have to say yes, or opt in, though.

does that make better sense? thanks so much for your question!

  75. Kenzie

I love the Pippit app so much! I’ve been using it all day. You gals are so creative and clever! Thanks so much for the new social media convenience! ;)

  76. Purchased. Downloaded. Signed up.
Sounds fab! Looking forward to “exploring” :)

Another request for Android please!! It’s such a big market – globally more than iPhone!

  78. Hello!

I’ve been a long-time follower of your blog and artistic pursuits. Congratulations on this fantastic accomplishment! I have been enjoying using Pippit all morning and am already increasing exposure for my art business. Thanks for being brilliant!

Any chance you’ll be creating some options for a Pippit social link button so we can all promote on our websites? :)

    Congrats again!

  79. Laurel

Coolio! Buying it now and will spread the word!

  80. marie

Congrats on your new business venture! And I agree with everyone here, please make an android version of it! ;)

    Our travelling adventures:

    • TAZA

we are hopeful to make an android version next! thank you for the kind words!

  81. Mariska

Hey you guys, I have watched the promo video and this seems like a great app. Not sure to download it still, because I have been using so many different platforms and I guess even if this one turns out to be great, It is another platform to keep up with and doesn’t have the reach like well known social media have.
Quick question: Does it exist in french appstore or only usa for now?

    -Mariska from

    • TAZA

it’s available worldwide including france! currently it is available only in english.

i get it with having so many different platforms and hesitating to add another. one of my biggest goals with pippit was to create an app that does all of what you need (or most of it) so you don’t need to use so many different channels everyday. we have a long way to go, but hopefully we’ll get there with more releases and features! if you do check it out i’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

  82. Sounds great! I just downloaded it, can’t wait to get more familiar with it!

  83. jade

Hi Naomi, I downloaded the app and entered my rss feed and my whole site is using the same photo- for each pip it’s the same photo. Any reason why that might be happening? thanks!

    • TAZA

Can you email [email protected] with your username and blog platform? Thanks!

  84. Rachel

Congrats and how exciting! Off topic question: Where did you get your rings with your family members names on them (that you are sporting in the top photo of this post)? I love them!

  85. Kristen

loving this app so far!! The only feedback I have is that the pictures are blurry in my feed until I click on them to view and I can’t click on the like, want, or useful buttons from my feed. I have to click on the individual picture. Is there anyway I can fix these things or are these problems other people are having?

    • TAZA

hi! you have to double tap the LIKE WANT or USEFUL button when on your home feed in order to click it.

  86. M

I think it’s impressive the way you have been able to use your blog as a vehicle for something like this.

However,I have to admit, when I was watching the Pippit clip it made me a little sad that so many people don’t go out and have a good time without instagramming, hashtagging, linking.. there’s something to be said for going out without documenting everything.

Just my two cents. Regardless, all the best with your new venture x

  87. leslie

If you aren’t a blogger, do you still need to pay a yearly subscription? Even tho its not a lot of money couldn’t I get the same information from the blog post itself, since everyone seems to use more links? Then I could save myself the few bucks.

This is pretty brilliant! It combines the best features of a lot of other main stream apps with some even better and more innovative user-friendly functions they’ve always been missing. Great job!

My question for you is why did the design team decide to make this a paid non-renewing subscription? It seems like the only way for this app to be fully functional is if it gets as many subscribers as Facebook or Instagram or other free social networking apps. Do you think it will likely replace or can even compete with those apps when there is an annual fee?

I’m just curious because although I love the functionality of it, I have a hard time imagining that instagram users will drop their free insta accounts for a paid dippit account, and if it isn’t likely to replace the instagram/Facebook/Pinterest/vine/blog following apps then isn’t it going to be redundant? Just another social networking interface to maintain along with the others? And if all the blog authors you follow, and friends and family you want to keep in touch with don’t also join, than doesn’t that sort of kill my incentive for joining also?

I’m just really curious why you chose to go that route instead of offering a free service that would immediately be more widely accepted and more mainstream.

But seriously cool. I love it!

  90. Haylz P

Where did you get the rings with your husband and children’s names?

  91. Dawn

Just started using the App, it won’t let me share to FB or Twitter. It comes up with errors any ideas on how to fix this???

    • TAZA

We will look into it! Can you email [email protected] with your username info? Thanks!
