moab, utah. part II.

003moab

while going through our photos from our time in moab last week (part I, HERE) i realized we have to go back.  i grew up going with my family when i was little, but i don’t think i ever really appreciated my surroundings like i did during this trip. maybe that’s because those red rocks, that blue blue sky, the quiet outside space where you hear nothing but your own feet shuffling, and seeing views of mountains and cliffs and nature for days… is the complete opposite of the fast paced new york city life in which we are currently living.  and while i do believe i am a city girl at heart, i sure do appreciate that peaceful desert. it took my breath away. such a beautiful world we live in. if you can make it out to moab someday, i don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

  50. Megan

    The sky is absolutely GORGEOUS!!

  51. Marie

The first photo is priceless!! Samson is always so happy. Btw any tips for going on a long hike with babies? Did they cry for naps etc? Sorry just curious.. Really keen in bringing my family out for adventures too. ;)

    http://smittenbyangels.blogspot.com

    • TAZA

i think it worked out ok because our babies are used to napping on the go. they nap well in ergo carriers and their stroller in nyc so when we were out with them (on a hike for example) they did great. the car, however… oh man. my kids hate the car. they just aren’t used to that sort of transportation and don’t like being strapped in like that. i’ll be thankful once we return home to nyc and don’t have to worry about cars anymore. :)

  52. Glorious! And E & S’s matching shirts – adorable :)

  53. Wowza! Just discovered your blog (& your insta!) yesterday, & I am overjoyed that I did. As a post-grad new to the city, it is so fun to see my new home through the eyes of such a love-filled family! You truly have a blogging “gift” – if there ever was one. ;)

If you ever need a cool, totally normal, young, Texas-native babysitter, I’m your gal! Cutest kids I ever did see.

  54. Bea

Oh my God!!This place is spectacular!!!
    I love that place!
And I think you’re stunning with your new haircut!
    Buon venerdì!

  55. bliss

utah is so beautiful. thanks for sharing it.
if you had a razor in the city, you wouldn’t need a stroller anymore. :)

  56. Eloise

In love with your swim suit, the lighting in Moab and that tepe. Does anyone want to buy me one :P

My God that views from the pool I love. This comforting after all the stress we spent in the cities right?. Your sons are handsome looking. Kisses and happy Friday.

Although I didn’t grow up in Utah I raised my youngest children there who are now in their teens. We only made it out to Moab twice, and absolutely loved it! I wish I would have taken more trips out there while living so close, but didn’t . With my oldest transferring from UARTS in Philly to University of Utah next year will give us more excuses to return back home for more visits, and plan more trips to Moab.

It’s hard to call a place “home” when you have two. I’ve lived in Jersey for five years now, and call it home, but I also call Utah home too! Like you I’m a city girl, but it’s so nice to go back home for some peace and relaxation without all the noise. So different!! I almost forget how peace and quiet sound!

We always have regrets of the things we didn’t appreciate as children, but am grateful that we are teaching our children to appreciate it more.

These are priceless memories that your making with your family. The few trips we made to Moab in are my girls scrapbook now, and we need to take our two youngest out there soon…maybe next year. I’ll probably do a throwback post of Moab thanks to you!

    Glad y’all had fun!

  63. Wow this is wonderful! I hope I can go there one day!

  64. your happy family always makes me smile. doubly so in that amazing landscape.

and i love your sneakers! do you mind sharing the brand?

    • TAZA

      thanks, they are new balance.

  65. LN

Ok this time I have to post a comment.
I was sooooo jealous of Samson kissing you, then my boy started it on my birthday. (yaa ah!)
Your kids are too cute. On the first picture Samson is just adorable.

And indeed your bathing suit suits rocks, I wouldn’t try it on me but love it on you !

Thanks for all your nice pictures !

  66. I absolutely adore Utah, Naomi! I think you’re spot on with your description. I went camping in Moab a few years ago, and I had a blast exploring Arches and Canyonland National Park. It’s a gorgeous state, and I feel like it’s still a little bit under the radar on a lot of people’s travel lists.

  67. Joyce

    Naomi and Family,

Your posts and family bring such joy every day!!!

The photo of you and your kids by the pool should be in a fashion mag!

  68. Kelly

This looks absolutely stunning! My brother and dad went to Moab when my mom and I went to Italy two summers ago and next time I want to switch! I love the picture of you and Josh without the littles! Now I just wish I could get in to the Anthropologie event to make flower crowns!

  69. abby

The photos are stunning. And let me just say that when I picture an ideal woman’s body it kinda matches up with yours…toned but still soft where a lady should be. The littles are so sweet in every shot too…I want your son’s shorts for me….doubtful the come in women’s sizes:)

    • TAZA

wow that is so sweet of you! thank you!

  70. I’ve never been to Utah, but it looks beautiful! Definitely a spot I will add to our future vacation list :)

Also, I just love that suit. It’s always a challenge to find a cute and flattering one piece. I was wondering if you had any advice on the sizing? I see they said it runs very small, but since its final sale I don’t want to chance getting one that doesn’t fit. Thanks!

    • TAZA

yes, i sized a size up and it fits great.

  71. what wonderful, fun-filled, joy-filled photos!
    xx

  72. Angie

Naomi, these photos are gorgeous! thanks so much for sharing. Makes me homesick but also makes me happy for the times I’ve spent in those beautiful places! I need to go back!

  73. Ally

Beautiful photos, I absolutely love the colors- from the red rocks and blue skies to your and E’s neon sunglasses. As always, thanks for sharing your lovely family!!

  74. Sharon

    Hi Naomi,
you look gorgeous in your new swimsuit! Anyway I was wondering what baby carrier do you and your husband use in this hot summer weather?

    • TAZA

we have an ergo baby carrier that we love and we borrowed a second one from a friend for this trip.

  75. Arches National Park is probably my second favorite one in the country (after Zion). I haven’t been since I was a teenager, but it is very high on my list of “must return.” Completely breathtaking.

  76. Love your new haircut – a lot of people have been doing the chop lately, it’s making me want to cut my own mermaid hair! Great swim suit, by the way.

  77. Tracy

I’m so in love with that first photo and those little, yellow Arches t-shirts. Utah is a beautiful place. One of the US’s best kept secrets in my opinion. Thanks for sharing and reminding me I need to plan a trip to Moab soon.

  78. Tiffany

I love looking through these pictures. My summer isn’t complete without a trip to Moab, there is just something majestic about being amidst all those red cliffs.

You and your family are adorable! I hope you had the chance to go to Pasta Jays, and if not it is a must for your next trip. I have almost made the 4 hour trip to Moab just for Pasta Jays. YUM!

And I have to ask if you do any certain types of workouts? For a mommy of two you are just stunning and so fit, besides trekking through the city do you have a workout routine or tips?

  79. Rose

Your pics are beautiful, I’m really digging your shirt. I have been looking for a cute cut off, what brand is it? Thanks!

  80. Lulu

Ok you must do a post telling us your fitness routine, please! Your little boy just kills me, so cute!

  81. Jenn

So fun! I have followed you on and off for a couple years, You open my eyes about a lot of “Mormon” stereotypes. People always teased my mormon friends about the underwear that Mormons supposedly wear, like can show you legs, or arms etc. So silly the things people say obviously that’s just a bunch of crap! You’re so beautiful and I love your style.

  82. Mun

Keep smiling! Your family has the most infectious smiles I’ve ever seen on blogsphere x

  83. Cassie

    Naomi,
I tried leaving a comment before, but i dont think it worked. But I love your photo’s! i was wondering what camera & photoshop you use, if you don’t mind me asking.

    Cassie

  84. Koa

Beautiful photos! If you don’t mind me asking did you use your canon rebel t2i for these photos? Thanks :)!

  85. Kelly

You have the sweetest little family! I enjoy reading your blog posts. The straw bag on the chair is adorable! Do you mind if I ask where you got it??

  86. MM

    These are too great!!!

  87. Vanessa

Another great set of photos! I’ve got to travel out there some day!

  88. I really love your photos. It’s an amazing way to familiy memories. You have to teach me !
