the new year has been off to a great start at the davis house! we are a bunch of sick dogs. yay. (the yay was sarcastic.) i’m not sure how it goes at your house, but at our house, when one gets sick, it’s inevitable that the entire crew comes down with the same thing within a few days. so while we’ve been trying to keep people separated, things extra clean and the house in general completely lysol-ed, all four of us were officially sick by saturday (…probably because we can’t help ourselves from giving lots of hugs and kisses.)
but it’s not all bad. because in our attempt to deep clean the place this week, we took down the christmas decorations and found one of my camera’s sim cards that had somehow been misplaced last month and impossible to find. not sure how considering we live in an itty bitty new york city apartment that is the size of most west coast garages. so christmas gets to live on a bit longer on the blog now that the sim card has been found! and even better, the last of the photos from our trip to italy were found on said sim card, too! so… just when you thought you were finally done with me posting on and on about italy and christmas, i’ve got a whole lotta venice to share with you this week. ;)
the photos here are from that day after thanksgiving when we walked down the street and picked out our christmas trees from the guy on the corner. it might not be as magical as going to a big fancy tree farm someplace in the mountains, but it’s festive in its own new york city way. right in front of the starbucks, naturally. i blogged a little about it here, but this year we got two christmas trees. a big one for the front room and a little one for the nursery. we also only broke 5 glass ball ornaments this year (4 the night we decorated the tree) and i call that a major success with an almost 2 year old. see you next year, christmas!
You know, now I kind of wish it was Christmas again lol. Thankfully this year we had plastic ornaments since we now have laminate/wood floors. Although a few were breakable, surprisingly our 2 year old didn’t actually break any lol.
Anyhow, I hope you all feel better soon!
♥Jazmyn

hey Naomi:) I know this is completely out of topic, but when you got married did you know you didn’t wanted kids right away because you were in school or whatever? were you on the pill or something until you guys though it was the right moment? or how did you keep yourself from getting pregnant until you wanted?
and also, i know that this is not a beauty blog, but i would love if you post how do you do make up on an everyday basis, you always look so natural and pretty

I love it when you find things you were looking for for ages! And well done, E for hardy breaking any Christmas decorations! Your Christmas pics are so different to my summer Christmas and I love it… Thanks for sharing x
E has got a Cindy Lou Who vibe going on in these pics :)
So pretty! And I know how valuable it can be to find lost pictures. I’ve done it a few times, too, and it feels like such a victory when I do.
Love the hats :)
I second the Cindy Lou comment, your family is pretty much out of a storybook!

Oh I love posts like these! Your kids are precious and adorable and ridiculously cute. You always capture the best expressions with them! Samson and Eleanor totally favor – they’re siblings, alright. ps: if we knew each other in real life, i’m sure we’d be friends. Too bad we’re on the opposite coast of you guys :)
Super beautiful and cute photos!

Glad you and your family had fun and enjoyed the holidays! I think you will like this blogger Stephanie Nielson! Her blog is called NieNiedialogues. Just go to http://www.nieniedialogues.blogspot.com to follow her.
She is also a mormon just like you. (Not trying to sound offensive to your religion because I’m a Christian).
ADORABLE photos. I don’t mind the prolonged christmas. It’s always so sad when January rolls around and all the festivities are over.
C’est trop beau! Moi aussi je veux que la magie dure un peu encore!
So sweet ! Your blog is very inspiring.
There can never be too many Christmas posts. It is my dream to spend Christmas in New York one time. It looks so magical.

i’m pleased for christmas to live on, i reluctantly took down our tree and was so sad it was over for another year – especially as this was our little one’s first christmas and was all the more magical as a result!
i’m excited to see more italy photos as it reminds me of our travels there, a few years ago we went to the most beautiful wedding in Ravello and my husband was so swept up with the romanticism of it all that he proposed a few days later on the island of Ischia!
keep it coming!

Hi Naomi,
I am enjoying your pictures, especially the NYC pics being a NY’er myself.
I have the same boots in reddish brown but would love a new pair, are yours Cognac or Tan?
thanks.
i have no idea, i am so sorry! there was only one color at the store when i bought them. they are Frye.
Where is your green quilted jacket from? I’m obsessed with it! Love your blog!
thank you! it is from Zara.
How cute! we just took down our tree and I was starting to get a little sad, but this brought it all back for me. Thanks for sharing!

E makes a cute lil’ pig ; )
oh my gosh! samson and eleanor are just *too* cute!
i love this post. i’m so happy you got around to posting these photos. it’s classic rockstar diaries — holiday cheer, a good pompom hat, nyc. : ) but seriously, that’s a fantastic hat. and i love the photo of miss e sitting over the colorful baubles & glass balls. i’ve had the flu for a week now & starting to go stir-crazy…so i know how you’re feeling. i do hope you are all back on your feet & illness-free very soon!
Hi Namoi!!! You have such a beatiful family and I love your blog!! Also you take great pictures! I’m thinking of getting a professional camera, but don’t know which. What camera do you have and what lense? :)
Hugs from Sweden!!
thank you! my camera info is on the ABOUT page under the FAQ’s.
where is E’s sweater from???? love it!
As the others, thank you so much for your lovely blog. Everyday I am waiting for a post !!! About the winter coats your children are wearing, would you please inform about the brand ? Thank you in advance for your answer. Love from France !
I am so sorry, I’ve just seen that you already answered about the winter coats !!! Thanks
i LOVE that you have multi-color lights. i asked on facebook a few years ago which lights people preferred. the majority thought multi-color looked tacky. what?!! i LOVE them! especially for children. i think they’re way more fun.
