an olive vineyard, in sicily.

hello! we are still in italy… we arrived in florence tonight (you guys, i’ve only been here a few hours but i don’t ever want to leave florence.)  everyone is sleeping beside me in our big hotel family bed. samson is snoring loudly and it’s part freaking adorable, part a little bit sad because that boy is fighting a cold.  anyway, i thought i’d share a few photos from last week while i had some time to go through my camera tonight…
for the first few days of our trip to italy, we stayed at a beautiful olive vineyard in sicily named mandranova.  josh found it while browsing online a few years ago and had maybe brought it up in conversation more than once about how he wanted to check it out together someday.  i’m really glad we made it happen because the vineyard and grounds were stunning. it was so removed from everything, so quiet and peaceful. and since there was only a handful of other guests there, we often felt like we had the place to ourselves (a perk of traveling during the off season, perhaps.)
since we knew the majority of our 2 week trip was/is going to be crazy fast paced with flights and trains around italy every few days, not to mention juggling naps for the littles and all things baby on the go, we kept the first few days of our trip very low key to help adjust to the new time change. i’m really glad we did this because i think it has made all the difference so far…*knocking on something*, we still have a few more days to go…
a few photos from mandranova below…
—-below, a tour of the olive factory—
ps. i do believe this olive oil has changed my life. ;)
—below, what eleanor did to keep herself entertained while we toured the factory—
ps. this child doesn’t care for tours.

How wonderful! Thanks for sharing. I do hope you'll share your tips and recommendations of places to go, eat and stay. My husband and I are starting to plan a trip to Italy in honor of my heritage. We got married earlier this year with a destination wedding to the beautiful countryside village in England where his surname originates. It was magical. Next we're heading back to explore where my father's family comes from in Italy. My grandfather is from the Pesto region. Yum! And my grandmother from around the southern portion. Can't wait.

  3. Katie

Oh, these photos are just magical!

I'm dying to go back to Italy …

  4. I Lelli

We are so happy that you are enjoying your trip in our country. It rained but your pics are beautiful!

  7. I know so many people who went to Italy not even trying olive oil before hand and then falling in love with it turing their trip!

  8. Isn't a vineyard where things grow on vines? Olives grow on trees, so wouldn't this be an orchard or a grove? Just a thought.

  9. what amazing memories! and that little samson boy is growin like a weed!

Hiya, gorgeous photos. But as olives grow on trees, shouldn't it be an olive orchard? Or olive grove? Just an idea, hope you are having an amazing time. :)

  15. those photos of Eleanor made me laugh out loud! My daughter is three weeks younger than her and that's exactly what she would be doing if we took her on any kind of tour or organized activity lol
