today is september 11th.
eleven years ago on this day, i was not in new york but had just flown home from the city a few weeks earlier after spending my first summer as a teenager dancing here. it was my first time in the city, and new york completely stole my heart. i hadn’t met josh yet, but he had just arrived in the city to begin his freshman year at columbia. while we both had ties to the city in our own little ways, i am aware that this day doesn’t affect us in the ways it does those who lost loved ones eleven years ago. josh and i feel such love and pride for this city and for the people who live here, and we consider it an honor to call new york our home. our thoughts and our prayers go out to all those who lost a loved one on this day eleven years ago.

so, well said. i was there and though i also didn't loose anyone, my heart bled and is still bleeding for the city i love so very much. i found tremendous strength and comfort in the fact of counting myself as a new yorker and being part of this amazing city!

I lost my uncle in the Pentagon, and have been so blessed by all of the love extended to me and my family. It's crazy that's been eleven years.
