baby.

aren’t baby shoes the cutest? these little worn out nike tennis shoes once belonged to husband. we’re totally putting them on baby. be it boy or girl (we aren’t going to find out the sex! we like surprises…)
oh gosh, it feels so good to finally be talking about this little baby on the way. it’s all we think, talk and dream about over here at our house. and thank you so much for all the love! it really means a lot reading through your emails and comments! we didn’t feel like any of it was real the past few months, so we held off as long as we could to share the news because i thought we’d jinx it. but the baby has been kicking nonstop this past week which has made this all feel like it really is happening. best feeling ever, those little kicks.
i am half way through my pregnancy, 21 weeks along and due in early january. and so far, baby is looking healthy and on track! we can’t wait to meet our little rockstar! we’ve been waiting (sometimes patiently, sometimes not so much) for this baby for a long time. january can’t come fast enough!

Congratulations!!! I have been wondering and wondering and wondering. Thank you for putting my wondering to rest. I am so excited for you guys!! Also, love the vintage shoes. I took some of my brothers' that my mom saved for John… looking forward to using them again for number 2. Love to you both.

  2. It's interesting to think that you have been waiting so long for your sweet baby while I (a young mother), sometimes, have been wishing I could travel the world and be more free(as you have seemed). There have been days, I'll admit, that I have been a bit jealous. I really have learned that the changes in lifestyle are so worth-it AND that life can still be ridiculously fun! Actually, your recent posts about Paris inspired this post and video about "soaring with planted feet." I'm sure you're busy, but I thought I'd share anyway. Best wishes for the little dear.

  3. I'm so happy for you! lots of prayers and blessings being sent your way!:)

  4. Jennifer

  5. I'm so happy for you and Josh…best wishes and all my love.

  17. carissa

such sweet little shoes. :) i got a little emotional reading this post. i'm so over joyed for you, friend!

  18. Kelly

Good for you for being surprised! I was surprised with both of my children. Make sure you tell the delivery nurse/doctor/midwife that you don't know the sex. Since so many people find out, they don't yell out "It's a boy! It's a girl!" anymore. Sad!

They tend to shove baby's private parts in your face, which is really confusing… It would just have helped if they had yelled! :)

    Enjoy!

  19. amylou

Love that you are waiting to find out!

  35. I used to think I couldn't bear to wait and find out the sex of my baby, but you've made me see this in a different light. Maybe when and if the boy and I decide to have kids, we might wait, too. There are so few surprises in life, right?

  36. I love these shoes. So cool.

  37. @annie cristina, it really is true. i never thought i could do it either, but we thought with at least our first it'd be fun, and so far it has! and i can't wait for josh to be like "it's a boy!" or "it's a girl!" he's very excited about that moment, and so am i.

  39. congrats babe! im sooo happy for you! when i saw the little bump that you have, i couldn't believe it at first and the next second, i was feeling so exhilarated for you! my boyfriend and i are huge fans of your blog and we absolutely adore kingsley.

  40. So excited for you! The second half of the pregnancy is much more fun than the first. The baby starts kicking more and more…giving you more joy each time. I also didn't find out the sex of my baby when I was pregnant. At times it was hard, but it actually got easier toward the end. Plus, I found it fun trying to pick out a boy and a girl name. And finding out when the baby is born is so joyful, then getting to call and tell the family is so fun and exciting!

  41. anjj

I'm so glad to hear that you're waiting to find out the sex of the baby! I'm in nurse anesthesia school and therefore place many epidurals for laboring women and care for those undergoing C-Sections. You can always tell when the parents have chosen to wait and be surprised – Watching their faces when they see their baby and find out whether it's a he or she is magical!
