last week while i was in utah i got to spend a couple of hours with
my cute sister hannah before she drove back up to logan for school.
we were both really sick that day,
so we sat and chatted around the house
looking like monsters all evening
eating lots of delicious food thanks to our mom.
yesterday i was thinking about all the things going on in our life
and what i’m most thankful for…. undoubtedly, it’s my family.
they are a huge source of encouragement, love and understanding…
especially during these last few months.
sometimes i think i take my family for granted.
they’re awesome people (imperfect, yes…but aren’t we all. ha. yes.)
i want to treat them better.
i want to be a better daughter, better sister, better wife.
i can’t believe this little sister of mine is going to be 22 in a few weeks.
it feels like yesterday when we were both living in nyc together
in that little dorm on 65th and broadway going to school.
those were the days…
hannah and i are 18 months apart but sometimes i believe we are secretly twins.
i love her dearly. and am thankful to have her in my life.
she’s a beautiful person, inside and out.
and i stole these photos off her facebook page.
she’s a rockstar.

the end.

Haha I love the first picture!
I agree about valuing your family. This year of college I'm farther away then I was before (I transfered) and it's really taught me how much I take family life for granted. I miss them!

  2. Lauren

    She is so lovely.

Family is the most important thing in my life too. Yours sounds amazing :)

  3. Beautiful post! My sister and I are also close in age, and I really believe we're soul mates. This post makes me want to go give her a hug!

  4. Great taste in headwear!

  5. aww that's awesome! I wish I was still close with my sister! :-(

  6. Victoria

I always wished to have a sister or really any sibling close to my age. As I get older, though, the 6 years between me and my brother aren't as much a barrier and I've realized what a blessing it is to have a sibling. They are pretty magical

  7. beautiful pictures! i agree, family is the best!

  8. i think we all take our families for granted from time to time, but at least you realize it and are trying to work to take them for granted less. it's hard sometimes because we know they'll always be there no matter what so it makes it a little easier to neglect them.

and p.s. i'm super jealous you have a sister you're so close with. i always wanted one, but alas….

  9. Carrie

Awww. :) I've always wanted a sibling that's closer to my age, but over time it doesn't make that much of a difference.

You're very lucky though, to have had someone to grow up with. It's an experience that can't be replaced. :)

  10. Jenni

What a sweet, and thoughtful blog about your sister. You two are lucky to to have eachother :)

  11. Cathi

sisters are the best….my sis and I are 2 years apart, and even though we don't see each other often – when we do it's wonderful!

  12. i've been feeling the same way lately. better sister, better daughter, better wife… little by little, day by day, our relationships are being strengthened and our love more fully demonstrated. it is a wonderful blessing.

  13. Oh I agree, my family are the best! And Im definitly working on being a better sister and daughter, Ive been quite a handful for my parents but I feel that now is the time to make them realize how much I really appreciate them, Plus, my younger sisters are 14 and 12 and although they annoy me sometimes I forget how much they look up to me, and how cool they really are! =)

  14. Lindsey

What is your sissy in Logan for? I missed it, is she at Utah State? In all the years I lived in SLC I only went to Logan for the first time this summer as I dropped my little sis off for her sophomore year at USU…I LOVE that little town. I'd love to drive it in the Fall; I hear it's beautiful.

    Glad you're better, friend.

  15. Lindsey, Hannah is at Utah State. I have STILL never been to Logan, which is terrible cause she has her own cute apartment there and I've yet to see it…. She loves Logan though- apparently it's very beautiful.

  16. Michelle

Aw she is soo cute! I love her orange jacket–and I'm not usually a fan of orange.

I love when sisters get along and are close. It's like the best!

  17. Lillian

I've got three sisters, and it makes me sad that I'm not close with any of them.Even so I am thankful everyday that I have them. If I ever have daughters, I would love to watch them have that special bond.

  18. Hanako66

    she's adorable!

I so often wished that I had sisters!

  19. My sisters + I are 10 years apart, 34, 24, 14. So it was always a dream of mine to let my children be close in age. We have two little girls, 17 months apart, + I hope so much that they stay close as they get older. Thinking about it just makes my heart so happy. :) You hear so many horror stories about how much people hate their siblings, so it's so refreshing to hear the opposite.

    :)
