  4. Exteena

Talk about yum. Baking is so fulfilling, and I wish i did it more often. Perhaps I am now inspired!

  5. Oh, but you need to decorate them, cupcakes arent cupcakes without frosting and sprinkles! yum! Cute picture!

  6. Amanda

Love homemade cupcakes, yum! I use this frosting on almost everything:
    4 ounces unsalted butter, softened
    4 ounces cream cheese, softened
    2 cups powdered sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream butter and cream cheese, add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time until smooth; add vanilla (and pretty food coloring).

Usually I double it. And add extra cream cheese…

  7. AmyK

Oh gosh! I hope you find a killer cream cheese frosting recipe… Cream cheese makes life happy. Thus cream cheese frosting? Fantastic! My sister and I made cream cheese frosting to put on a birthday cake we were making a couple of years ago. We had to make a second batch 'cause there wasn't enough left for the cake! Sooo good.

  8. Sara

cupcakes!! I think any frosting that involves cream cheese and icing sugar would be great…well depends, I don't really have a recipe to share, I am sorry!

  9. I made coconut cupcakes last week, sooo good. Martha Stewart has amazing frosting recipes on her site.
You are so pretty, I hate you ;)

  10. I just found your blog…I'm in love with the photos you've taken from your Holga & Diana :) You & your husband seem to be living the dream in new york! And i agree, nothing like HOMEmade cupcakes :) I grew up with my mom's delicious banana bread and cream cheese frosting…here's the frosting recipe:

3 oz. (1/2 of 8 oz. block) cream cheese
    1/4 C. butter (softened)
    1 t. vanilla
    1 T. milk
    2-1/2 C. Powdered sugar
Cream the cream cheese & butter together to avoid being lumpy. Add everything else & beat it all together well, until light & fluffy. ENJOY!

If you try it, let me know what you think! And I can always use another good cupcake recipe ;)

  11. 5 tbsp unsalted butter, softened but not melted
8 oz. cream cheese, can be taken straight from the refrigerator
2 tsp. vanilla and whip until smooth.
Gradually add 2 c. powdered sugar (sift after measuring out the 2 c.) until combined. been sifted after measuring. If you like it sweeter just add more powdered sugar!
Let me know how it goes! :)

  12. Caitlin

Indeed they are. My neighbors dropped some off the other day, I about exploded with sugar-filled joy!

  13. lynette

  19. Celeste

i use a really simple one and it seems to work for cupcakes, cake and almost everything else you'd want it for:

    8 oz cream cheese
    1/2 cup butter
    2 cups powdered sugar
    1 tsp vanilla

i hope this helps; your cupcakes look wonderful!

  20. Hello darling.
I agree with you! homemade cupcakes are the best! and I know a little recipe for cream cheese frosting:

you need softened cream cheese, softened butter and sifted powdered sugar and of course vanilla extract!
you just need to put cream cheese and butter in a bowl and cream together until they become creamy and soft. then add the vanilla and after that stir gradually the powdered sugar. you should keep it in the refrigerator.

    I hope it helps!

  21. hey there :)
i just stumbled over your blog and what can i say…the first thing i saw were cupcakes :D that must be a sign ;)

and actually i´ve got a cream cheese frosting recipe from my favorite cupcake book :)

i´ll quote for you "beat butter (30g) and cheese (80g) in a small bowle with electric mixer until light and fluffy; gradually beat in sifted icing sugar (1 1/2 cups (240g)).

hope it will work for you :)

    have a wonderful day

  25. the best cream cheese icing recipes just have cream cheese, a little butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Cute cupcakes!

  26. I adore homemade cupcakes! I just made some vanilla ones for my nephew's birthday. He helped me draw robots on them with different colored icing. :) Here is a recipe for vanilla cream cheese frosting that I used for red velvet cupcakes! (The amounts listed here are for a cake, so it will probably make more than enough for cupcakes.)

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
    4 tablespoons butter, softened
    2 tablespoons sour cream
2 teaspoons McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract
    1 pound box confectioners’ sugar

Beat cream cheese, butter and sour cream in a medium bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth. Cool cake completely before frosting.

Let me know how it works out!

  27. lahmode

LOVE your glasses and shirt – where are they both from?

  28. I'll give you a recipe for buttercream because I think it's just as delicous and insanely easy to make.
Basically it's just half margarine or butter to icing sugar, plus whatever flavouring you like; I ussually use just vanilla essence and a bit of ground cinnamon.
Just sieve the icing sugar gradually into the margarine/butter and cream together. Here's an example of a recipe
    100g icing sugar, sieved
    50g butter/margarine,softened
    1tsp vanilla essence
I just have to say I LOVE your blog, it makes me really happy. I think it perfectly illustrates the joys of marriage. Also, I love your glasses!

  29. Tracy

This is quite possibly the best frosting recipe for chocolate cake I've ever had in my life.

    Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Frosting
5 oz. cream cheese, at room temp
1 stick (4 oz.) unsalted butter, also at room temp
    2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup smooth peanut butter (not the natural kind or it will separate)

    1. In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar 1 cup at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl often. Continue to beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes.

    2. Add the peanut butter and beat until thoroughly blended.

    Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

  30. whoorl

Try this yummy one from Barefoot Contessa. :)

2 3-ounce packages cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
    1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    1/4 teaspoon pure almond extract
2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar

In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, butter, vanilla extract and almond extract until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in 1 1/2 cups of the powdered sugar, beating well. Gradually beat in as much of the remaining sugar as needed to reach a comfortable spreading consistency.

for the BEST cream cheese treat, leave out the powdered sugar and just do

lots of heavenly cream cheese + plenty of vanilla + regular sugar.

its a little grainy (perfect!) and incredible on EVERYTHING. like apples. and ritz crackers. and cupcakes, obviously. and carrot cake.
