this happy list, by whitney, gave me goosebumps… in a good way. maybe it’s because i miss my grandpa’s constant whistling, or because i miss home. or maybe it’s because whitney is obviously full of life and is a very inspiring writer.
and here is whitney’s little list of 10 things which make her terribly happy:
  1. curly {or folded} potato chips
  2. the sound of a typewriter
  3. drinking from a straw {yes, i use them even when i’m at home}
  4. the feeling of coming home {nothing beats that feeling}
  5. the way my hair feels under water
  6. unexpected gifts {everyone loves them…and if they say they don’t they are lying}
  7. old records {elvis ones are my favorite}
  8. the time spent with guitar hero {and his forehead kisses… they make me swoon}
  9. anything to do with holidays {baking christmas cookies, dying eggs, carving pumpkins}
  10. my papa’s whistling {he never stops and hearing it makes me smile every time}
thank you for playing, whitney.
and husband is home from work
{how i do not miss his crazy nyc work hours…another reason i love dc}
so i am off to cuddle and spend time with him.

  5. Becky

    This is one of my favorites! I love the curly chips. Thank for the list I have been creating my own with every nod of my head on these lists! I love being reminded of the little things so thank you!

  6. oh, I love her list! and her blog!

  7. this is a great list! now that i think about it, hair does feel really good under water.

  8. Wow, that was wonderful. Btw, I LOVE folded potato chips. Sometimes I want someone to create a brand of chips that are all curly and folded, but then it wouldn’t be as special as finding that prized super curly one in the bag.

  9. My Grandpa is the one who taught me how to whistle!

    And yes, something so…Ernest Hemmingway about the sound of the typewriter. It makes me want to get out a dusty record of La Boheme, put it on the gramophone I don’t have and push away to the next great american novel. In Paris, just as Hemmingway.

  10. i juts love these lists. they make me happy! i sooo love the sound of typewriters too!

  11. Jackie

    I love her list! Folded potato chips are fun and great for dipping. Yum.

    I hope you don’t mind, here is my list…

    1. Wrapping Christmas presents
    2. Giving my baby a bath in the kitchen sink.
    3. Sleeping with socks on in the wintertime.
    4. Milk and cookies for midnight snack.
    5. Napping in a hammock outside.
    6. Taking off uncomfy shoes and wiggling my toes.
    7. Movies with Audrey Hepburn in them.
    8. Screaming really loud on kiddie roller coasters, even though I’m not really scared.
    9. Kraft mac and cheese
    10. Waving to people in other cars when I’m on a road trip. (having them wave back would be # 11 on the list.)

  12. oh i adore miss whitney + her blog! i love how she talks about guitar hero — they are so in love!

  13. These have been so fun to read, so I created my own list and just e-mailed it to you. What a great exercise to do first thing in the morning to set a happy mood for the rest of the day!

  14. Love her!! She is so sweet! We love that you are so kind to make us smile each day with these lists. Both my love and I read them and they bring a little sunshine in our mornings.
    Each one makes us so thankful for all little things God blesses us with each day. (sometimes we forget how good we have it)
