Such a beautiful day.

Today I had lunch with 16 year old Ebony Chrichlow. Ebony is from Texas and in 2005, was diagnosed with leukemia. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ebony was able to come to New York for an entire week with her mother and spend a day at Juilliard observing classes and rehearsals and interact with faculty and students. After getting to know Ebony personally at lunch, a few of my friends and I were asked to give her a tour of the school and campus (ha–what campus?!) and show her around to a few repertory classes. The entire experience was amazing and really puts things into perspective for you… Ebony has an amazing personality and is very down to earth. She is incredibly passionate about dance and wants so badly to someday attend The Juilliard School. I think she taught us alot today; as Juilliard is probably the best place to find people really wrapped up in themselves. It’s easy to get lost in only caring about your artform that we often forget the reason we’re doing all this in the first place. I’m really thankful I was able to meet Ebony and her sweet mother and learn a thing or two from both of them.
