i hope you don’t mind this ginormous photo dump, because i have over 40 photos in this blog post and that is a lot of scrolling! i just get so camera happy this time of year when we get to enjoy the outdoors again, and central park is absolute magic right now.
we might live in a concrete jungle, and we might not have our own private front yard, or back yard, or garden, or whatever it might be that many elsewhere are fortunate to have… but we do have central park. and she’s just a few blocks from our little new york city apartment, and i have to tell you, she fills the gap of no yard juuuuuuussssst fine. :) i so appreciate her in the midst of a bustling city. she offers me and my family so much…. from her playgrounds to her ponds and blossoms and bike paths and hiking trails, to the lawns fit perfectly for a picnic. we might share her with a few million other people, but i think that makes it all the more special.
so many more photos, and some stories below….
i mentioned this on my instagram, but ever since our DC chapter, cherry blossoms have the most special spot in my heart this time of year. i am so glad we get to experience many in the parks around the city, because those trees cannot be outdone.
my two DC babies. won’t ever forget walking around the tidal basin in DC pregnant with eleanor. and then once again with her as she was learning to walk, super pregnant with samson! maybe that is why i love the blossoms so much, because i associate them with my first two babies.
these rocks right here by the water is a spot josh took me one of the first times we hung out. we walked all the way to these rocks in the park from somewhere down near 34th street, and ended up sitting on these rocks talking for a few more hours in the dark. i should probably state that at this point in getting to know josh, i was super skeptical of him and even asked as we got to the rocks if this was where he brought all the girls. he told me i was the first girl he’d brought to the rocks, but i should also probably say that there was no kissing or moves made or anything like that on this night or at this point. it’s actually a really sweet memory for me because i was sure in my mind at the time that that was why he brought me there, but he was so respectful as we just talked and got to know each other better and i remember getting back to my dorm room so late in the night but still knocking on my girlfriend’s dorm room door and being all, “hey, you know that guy i went out with tonight? i think i really like him!!!”
anyway, while we were sitting on the rocks with the kids the other day, it brought me back and i told them about it. i don’t think they really cared whatsoever but it was still fun to reminisce with josh and pretend they were listening. ;)
that bridge of freckles across his nose and cheeks! even upside down, i can’t get enough of them.
another perk of central park… getting to check in and say hello to our turtle friends! the kids love sitting on the rocks and watching them sunbathe!
these little rock climbers always make me so nervous, but i’ve been doing better at just letting them climb and not freaking out.
this face is the face conrad makes when he’s smelling the flowers!!!!
petals falling in her hair!
always climbing something! this kid!!! and somehow, knock on wood, not hurting himself in the process!
this is seriously my favorite time of year when everyone is back outside and in the park!
bumpin’ by the blossoms! probably did a little bit too much walking around the park on this afternoon because i was feeling it when we got home and was seriously hurting. BUT, i think it did me some good because earlier that morning at my routine doctors appointment, both babies were still breech (head up, feet down), and then the following morning after our afternoon in central park the day before, i had another routine ultrasound at my hospital and both babies had flipped!!!! here’s to hoping they don’t flip again and both stay head down for their last few weeks!
also- this guy is a great papa. everyone wants a ride and he’s willing to attempt it!
such a fun beginning to the outdoor season of city living! we’ve waited so long for you, spring! and we are just so freaking happy you’re finally here to stay!!! (no more random 30 degree days thrown into the week, okay?!!?)
have a good one, everyone!
