  9. Inês

I’m portuguese and one of the best advice I’ve heard for baby naming is choosing a name other nationalities can easily pinpoint the gender and are somehow acquainted with through their culture (it doesn’t have to be exactly the same, but similar). For instance, my name is Inês – it is similar to some cultures, but not really to native english-speakers. Having said that, I like Clara and Alice. Tradicional and somewhat light names are my favourite (Eleanor is a big favourite as well, but not something that exists in portuguese). I tend to not like this Hollywood fashion of naming children Apple/River/Dream/etc – babies are people with future as adults and a life of their own, I think we must have good sense when choosing their name as they’ll be perceived through and by it; we raise them and love them, but we don’t own them.

  10. Hanna

  22. georgia

Congradulations!!! i love the name Louisa

  23. Shar

I am really OCD about names so I noticed this about the names you’ve already chosen for your three littles- All of their names are on the same plane (they don’t have any g, j, y, q). Coincidentally your name and Josh’s are also on the same plane, if you get what I mean. If I were in your position, I would continue with this pattern. My top 3 suggestions are: Matilda (LOVE LOVE LOVE this name but my husband just could not love this enough for our second daughter), Louisa, and Clementine. As a set I think Eleanor, Louisa, and Matilda just sound so sweet together. The other names I love that don’t follow this pattern are Josephine and Margaux. Good luck! Looking forward to hearing their names!

  24. Carly

    So excited for y’all!!

    Here are my name suggestions!

Carlisle (Carly) (this is my middle name :) )
    Jane
    Hallie (not pronounced like Haley)
    Carlyn
    Malia
    Lily
    Page
    Nina
    Ophelia
    Evelyn
    Brielle

  25. L

Since you love Christmas so much – how about Noelle? Pronounced no-elle which sounds like the French Noël (meaning Christmas). Sincere congratulations with the exiting news!

  26. Melissa

    Amelia and Winnie

  27. Sheila

    Congratulations! This is so exciting!

I’m a name nerd, so this is the post where I feel the urge to leave a comment :)
Eleanor, Samson and Conrad are such great names – they have history but not too popular and not unusual, either. For the new little ladies I would choose something similar in style. I am thinking something like Lavinia and Vivienne as an example: this is a beautiful combination – timeless and feminine. There are similar letters/sounds in both of them but they are different when you say them out loud. Also starting with different letters if you’d like to avoid the “matchy” feeling and having nickname options.

    Here are my suggestions:

    – Ada
    – Annabelle
    – Beatrice
    – Camille
    – Charlotte
    – Clara
    – Claudia
    – Clementine
    – Cora
    – Coralie
    – Elodie
    – Eloise
    – Elsie
    – Etta
    – Felicity
    – Flora
    – Gemma
    – Isadora
    – Juliette
    – June
    – Lavinia
    – Lila
    – Linnea
    – Lottie
    – Louisa
    – Lydia
    – Mabel
    – Magnolia
    – Margot
    – Meredith
    – Nina
    – Odette
    – Ottilie
    – Rose
    – Rosalie
    – Rosamund
    – Saskia
    – Sylvie
    – Vivienne
    – Violet
    – Zelda
    – Zelia

Good luck and have fun with choosing the names. Can’t wait to her the announcement.

  28. Janet

  29. Cristina Emilia

I second Evelyn and Eloise… love Evie & Ellie as nicknames!

  30. Mary

Congrats! I’m an identical twin myself. My twin sister is my greatest gift in life. That being said, being an identical twin has it’s challenges. I highly recommend the book “One and the Same: My Life as an Identical Twin” by Abigail Pogrebin. Chapters focus on a range of topics and interviews many sets of twins. My mom gave it to my sister and I for our 30th birthdays. Strangely enough not only did we both put the book down at a certain point (only to pick up and finish a few months later later) but my mom got a phone call from each of us (a few days a part) when we got to the chapter discussing everything the mother goes through to birth and raise twins, as it really shed light on what our mom went through in a way that we hadn’t thought about. Neither of us knew the other had called. My mom thought it was typical!
