LOVE TAZA THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE-15i have an obnoxious amount of photos to share from the thanksgiving day parade last week, but first i have to say thank you so much for the all the love you have shown us this past week since we announced our news! our family is so beyond thrilled to welcome these new babies into our family, and finally sharing the news with everyone made it feel all the more real (although truth be told, it sure feels very real over here with how sick i’ve been this time around.) but even so, we are just on cloud nine. may can’t come soon enough. i’ll share more in another post because i’m getting side tracked and mostly just wanna recap the parade in this post, so let’s get to it!

i ventured out to central park west in the early hours of thanksgiving day morning (4:26am to be exact) with a few thermoses of hot herbal tea and some blankets to hold my ground. besides not being able to feel my toes by 6 in the morning, it was going just fine. we are pretty lucky to be living so close to central park right now, that i went home to our apartment to use the bathroom when i had to pee (friends held down the fort for me while i ran home). josh brought the kids over around 7:45 in the morning with a ginormous thermos of hot chocolate and some snacks and we were joined by friends which helped the last hour of waiting go by quickly for everyone since they had little ones to play with.

the parade was absolutely magical. the amount of colorful confetti thrown on our group was insane! the floats, the live music, all the waving and cheery “happy thanksgiving!” ‘s that were being shared made my crazy holiday heart so freaking happy. i love how new york goes all out for the holidays and this was the perfect start to our day of giving thanks in the city.

so many photos below!

What incredible photos of the holiday parade. I have just started following along with your blog, after it was recommended to me. I love the joy in the photos, and I too recently went to a ‘smaller’ holiday parade with a 3 year old and we had a blast. These are memories to keep forever. Thanks for your stories, keep writing!

  10. so cute! my daughter (4) watched it for the first time this year and now wants to 1) be a rockette when she grows up and 2) wants to see it live next year. As a native californian I think she’d freeze

  11. Celia

Can we start talking all about the twins already?????? :D

  12. Elaine

These pictures are incredible… much better than watching the parade on TV. Your colors are fabulous just like our incredible grandchildren!

  13. Shannon Merrell

you are such a talented photographer, really love these pictures. and congrats on your growing family!

  14. I love these photos Naomi :)

  15. Remaliah Lacombe

I’m still soo sooooo thrilled for you all with your news about the twins! We have twin girls and it’s just such a fun blessing. Though they came super early, so yours are NOT allowed to do that! Praying you feel better and feel great right throughout and your two precious little babies stay tucked inside right to the very end xx

  16. cj

taza, taza, taza!! ahhh!! i gasped and felt sympathy heart palpitations when i read your news, but holy canoli, those are the luckiest little angels to get you as their mama! you are a mama phenom! keep up the amazingness!

  17. Grace

Amazing photos! Looks like a great time.

Quick question: Do you traditionally watch the parade as a family on TV together?

I think I remember you saying before that you didn’t own a TV. If you still don’t would you do a post on what that’s like for you and your kids because it is so rare? I would love to go without a TV and can see so many benefits but we watch so many movies on DVD that I would want to kept even just for that. Would love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks!

    Where is your hat from?

    Where is your hat from?

  20. yes, this is on my bucket list! going to wait a few more years though till the kids areold enough to sit out there as we do not live in NYC. Now I want to go watch Miracle on 34th steet.

  21. Incredible! I would love to see this one day,I love parades. I was in NY last March, but the weather wasn’t as nice as it seems to be now. Apparently, I chose the wrong time ;)

  22. Helga

I’m so glad you went! We go to the Rose Parade every year and it’s my favorite tradition.

  23. Awesome pics! you topped me with your photos then again you have that canon, and I shot mine with my smartphone!

Hope you feel better, and that your days ahead this holiday season are nothing but wonderful!

a few blocks already had quite a lot of people holding spots and roping the front views off at 4:30, but also there were plenty of spots in-between as well. i had to walk down a ways to get my spot but i had friends go out around 5:30 in a different area and get a spot just fine!

  26. Stephanie

I am in awe of you for doing this for these kids before the twins arrive. Can you share where your jacket is from? It looks to be the perfect balance of warmth and not over sizedness

    • TAZA

thanks! it’s from j.crew. it’s a few years old but i feel like they have a similar one each year. and honestly i wasn’t feeling nauseous when i went out. i told myself i’d not go if i wasn’t feeling well that morning, so i promise it wasn’t a huge deal! grateful the nausea held off until that evening (although bummer i probably won’t be able to ever eat a thanksgiving meal again. lol!)

  27. Misty

We love the parade. We record it and watch it every year! BUT our best memory of the parade was the year my husband was able to perform in it with his show!

  31. Em

    Where is your hat from?

    • TAZA

i actually am not sure. i bought it several years ago for josh actually when we were newly weds and i can’t remember where i got it. it’s an oldie and i am always stealing it!

  32. Ruth

These photos make me feel like I was there, thank you so much for sharing (and BLESSINGS on your recent news! )

Super random question… my two best friends have been trying for over ten years to get into the Parade and this year they finally did it. EPIC, to say the least, and unfortunately none of us could be there. I’m wondering if you happened to snap any photos of the Angry Bird balloon and it’s handlers, that’s what they ended up doing and they were balloon handling on your side of the street. They cannot stop gushing about what a once in a lifetime experience it was, and I have scoured the internet hoping to find a photo of them. They didn’t make it on tv, so I just have to ask if by chance you took any of that balloon. I’m a shutterbug like you, so I know I would likely have gotten shots of every little thing.

Congrats again!! Your blog is a delightful break in my day, thank you for always photo documenting your adventures so well, and sharing with us. :)

    • TAZA

hi ruth! that’s so cool your friends handled the angry birds balloon! i didn’t take any photos of that one, unfortunately. so sorry! hope you are able to find something!

  33. Lucy

Wow, that’s a lot of confetti/trash on the ground…I never realized how much it left behind!

  34. Kelly

So awesome and you are such a good Mom, this is definitey something your kids are going to treasure!

Your pictures are amazing and you got such a good spot! We always head down to the Philly parade because it’s a lot more manageable but I’m sure it doesn’t come close to the Macy’s Day Parade. We might have to try our luck next year just making sure it’s an early morning. Sierra~Beautifully Candid

  36. What a fun time you’ve spent with your family! I can’t compliment your photography enough. Stunning!
