it was a wonderful week in the adirondacks. i hope you don’t mind me sharing some more photos from our time there last week. i feel really fortunate that at times we get to take special trips “for work,” especially when they often don’t ever really feel like work at all and we just get to have an incredible time together. this was one of those for sure.
we were in the adirondacks and saratoga springs making a little video for a social media campaign (you can see it here and here) but we of course took a bunch of photos during our trip as well because that is just the blogger in me. actually, that is just me. because i was taking photos of each day long before i knew what the term blogger was and i pretty much intend to keep on snapping and documenting bits of life even if the blogging thing eventually comes to an end. one thing is for sure, i have so appreciated having this platform to share and it has been nothing short of an honor to ever have anyone interested in following along. i certainly hope to always have some sort of platform to share and connect with you, and just want to say thanks for being here, and continuing to be here. i really love you guys.
ok, onto some of the photos i wanted to share…
before heading to the pool to swim one evening, we were out on the dock that overlooks lake george and it is seriously beautiful. this was at the sagamore resort. we actually are going back later this summer with friends and now all 5 of us really can’t wait since we’ve gotten to explore it a little!
carousel rides in saratoga springs! if there is a carousel anywhere in the town, we will find it and we will ride it!
it was actually very exciting for josh and me to see a spring in person! the kids were mostly interested in the toys we’d brought out from the car to play with for a bit as we got all the wiggles out before starting our drive back to nyc.
can’t handle. love them together and their smiles so much.
our little navigator in the back seat! this kid has such a love of maps and mazes and i think i already shared the time he used the google maps on josh’s phone to get us to a mcdonald’s on a road trip in pennsylvania? he navigated with that little blue dot on the app the entire time from his car seat in the back and josh and i really had no idea where we were going since we didn’t have a map, but he got us there with amazing directions from his back seat and i’m obviously just very proud. it was fun getting him a tangible map over the google map app this trip.
cannot get over this right here!
practicing back floats (we call them star fishes) and gosh i couldn’t get over this beautiful girl’s lashes and freckles together from this angle. i love her so much. i am so proud of my tiny six year old who is a first grader now which is wild!
we forgot conrad’s puddle jumper and he’s so dang independent in the water not wanting help or to hold on or listen whatsoever, so it can stress me out a lot. he’s always like, “nah, i got it.” “i do.” “no, me do!” and so it was a struggle to remain calm as we swam. although he did great and i just hovered over him in ways he couldn’t tell so nothing scary happened thankfully!
and this has to be one of my most favorite pictures from our summer so far. between samson’s sweet excitement and conrad trying to cover his eyes from the big splash that is about to arrive, i was laughing pretty hard. water can be so much fun.
also, amazing news you guys! guess who has a driver’s license once again!? ME! do you remember how i lost it over a year ago and then it expired anyway and i thought well, i guess i’m a real new yorker now. but nope! i’m back in action and loved every minute of it.
for our road trip, lexus was really kind and offered to lend us their lexus lx570 to borrow which made us feel very spoiled. that car was great! lots of fun features. one of the most helpful was the 360 degree panoramic view camera system which makes parking and backing up such a breeze. we mostly just couldn’t get over how comfortable everything was inside the car (the two carseats + booster seat fit with plenty of extra room in the middle row) and the double built-in dvd players were a dream come true for my kiddos since we packed popcorn and they got to watch a classic movie we checked out of the library, some vintage gumbo shows, and yes, a little bit of paw patrol (mixed in between naps and lots of “i spy” games and chit chat).
this barn was so pretty, i had to whip out the camera from the passenger seat of the car so i can remember it forever.
we visited the schuyler house while in saratoga springs. the kids love all things alexander hamilton thanks to the soundtrack of hamilton which we listen to often, so they really perked up when the park ranger said this was his wife’s family home and he visited it!
everywhere we go, panda goes too. just wanted to make sure she got a little time in front of the lens this trip since she’s practically family. can you believe she’s been with E since she was about ten months old? how we haven’t lost her is a miracle. i actually gave her a good scrubbing with bleach the other day because her white was more grey and after doing so, i was shocked at how her original very white coloring came back. we throw her in the wash often with our regular laundry but i hadn’t ever used bleach. it was amazing. eleanor was very pleased. i obviously should have done that years ago.
also, we had some of the BEST pastries at mrs. london bakery in saratoga springs. the pain au chocolat was out of this world insane and i regret not getting one for the drive back. so so good.
and i had to share this last picture to kind of do a quick brag about my 2 second self timer skills. we really ought to invest in a remote for our camera by now, but there is such a thrill to setting up the camera and putting it on the 2 second timer feature and making the maddest dash of your life to get back in the frame. i honestly think it’s resume worthy, this silly skill. ;) so you know, i had to share. :)
