excited to share some photos from our day at the trout farm in bibury england, and also our afternoon at blenheim palace!

spending time at this trout farm was probably one of our favorite experiences of our trip! the farm was of course just beautiful, and we ended up hanging out and being there much longer than we originally anticipated since the grounds were so pretty and they had a fun little playground as well that the kids just loved. eleanor and samson both caught two fish (while conrad napped) and we ended up buying a little portable grill right there at the farm and cooked them up and ate a yummy trout lunch together! it was seriously so much fun (besides the gutting of the fish part. although josh loved that and samson officially gutted one of his fish by himself with josh’s supervision! it was impressive.)

the moment both eleanor and samson caught their first fish was so priceless! these photos don’t do it justice, but it was such an exciting moment for all of us!

right behind me is the fire pit where we placed the little portable grill we bought and settled in for lunch! they had little kits with tin foil and salt and some other cooking utensils and plates. josh ran down to the little shop at the other end of the farm for some bread and butter and drinks. one of my favorite meals of our trip just because of the experience alone!

after our time in bibury, we visited the blenheim palace grounds where we had fun at their adventure playground and the big mazes in the pleasure gardens at the palace.

we checked out the butterflies at blenheim palace and realized that all butterflies, even british ones, are obsessed with mister samson. it seems that everywhere we go where butterflies live, they land and love to hang out on samson! it’s amazing! he is our butterfly whisperer and we love it.

It sounds like you had a full day!! We’ve been to Bibury and its indeed amazing!
How does a full day of fun work with nap schedules? Are the Kids still napping?
I’m expecting my first and we are planning a trip to Europe when she’s going to be 10 months old. I’ve read your travel with kids posts but didn’t read anything specific about your logistics on how to schedule sight seeing when they need naps!
    Thanks!!

Have you considered (or already wrote about) a post on traveling with kids and how to survive it? I would LOVE to travel more with my kiddos but it all seems so overwhelming…until I see your blog posts! Any tips and advice would be incredible!

  13. Looks like the perfect day! When we travel we joke about how we basically spend thousands of dollars to visit different parks in different parts of the world..kind of true, but priceless!

What a awesome trip! Ps. where is that brown fringe sweater from in the gorgeous pink blossoms insta photo?!

  15. Carly

I love that you guys cooked and ate the fish you caught! So many people throw them back and it always make me wonder how kids will ever figure out where food really comes from if they aren’t getting the full experience of live animal to cooked……

It looks like a wonderful day and I love that hunter green coat on you.

Thanks for sharing so much of your trip. We’ve all been enjoying the photos
