these photos are from a glorious day of sunshine last week where we were able to shed our bigger puffy coats and enjoy some of that vitamin D in central park together while we played on the rocks and visited the animals at the petting zoo. it felt and looked and smelled like spring, and i couldn’t get enough of it.
our family actually really struggles planning and successfully executing outings or playdates after school during the week. everyone is just so tired and exhausted from the long school day and since there is usually an absence of sunshine during these colder months, it only makes sense to head home and do something together indoors before dinner and bed. but with warmer days finally creeping up on us, we figured we’d attempt to stay out and wander a bit together through central park on this day. honestly, we almost turned around to go back home three different times before we even got to central park, but i’m glad we persisted and went (and had plenty of healthy snacks on hand, because i swear if anyone is moody it’s just because they are hungry! at least that’s how it works in my case!). we had a great time once we were inside the park, and everyone was back to their happy selves getting reacquainted with the park we spend so many hours in during the warmer months of the year. over all, a really good day.
josh almost didn’t come with us to the zoo because we had a lot of work we were trying to finish up for the day, but i’m so glad he took a break too and came with us. life is better when papa is with us.
what’s that i see?! hello daffodils!!!!
that afternoon sunshine felt and looked so pretty. i used to always be very partial to autumn, but spring has really been speaking to my soul the last few years when she finally rolls around. i’m so grateful for her.
this face! he was in complete heaven! also, how sweet are his little freckles coming in across his nose!
when these boys hold hands (or elbows?!) and walk or run together, i just feel grateful.
nothing like a little pat pat to the ear!
a snapping turtle!
and another darling turtle with the sweetest smile ever.
first signs of spring!
sometimes those pretzels in the park are warm and (kinda) fresh and they hit the spot just right.
the best explorers there ever were! even in heavy winter boots!:)
samson soaked up all the sun by resting at the top of the rocks the kids climbed together. it was so sweet to see how content he was just laying there quietly by himself feeling the sun on his face.
so glad we are almost out of that “uuuugggggh” phase i tend to always go through in new york city during february and march when city life only feels hard and trying. i’m so overly dramatic though. even when she’s brutally cold, she’s still my favorite. i’m sorry if i complained extra the past few weeks about the weather. promise i’ll be in a better mood now that the sun is shining again. ;)
