before our time in victoria, we spent a quick weekend in whistler, british columbia, canada. and the entire time, we were like, wow this place is crazy beautiful. i’m so glad we detoured there for a couple days to see it! i actually didn’t take the camera out too much during our weekend, and we kept it pretty low key as we adjusted to the time change, but i did bring it with us when we visited alta lake one day and i’m glad i did because i love these photos (and the video too) a lot. we spent most of the day right beside the water, and the kids couldn’t get enough of the little fish swimming around and tried to catch a few in their buckets and give them names before releasing them again into the water. below is a little video we made and then a few photos we took during our day there.

eleanor and samson took some pretty darling photos with their little cameras while we were here. it’s so fun to just stand back and not direct them in any way and just watch them pick up the camera occasionally and snap something they want to remember. i really love seeing the world through their eyes.

this photo breaks my heart just a bit since this was one of my last weeks nursing conrad, and as of now, he is officially weaned. it’s so different for every woman and little one, but for me, i loved my experiences breastfeeding my kiddos and part of me misses it terribly already. i’m thankful i was able to have a positive experience with it, and also that my kids were as well. and now that it’s over with C, he suddenly seems so much bigger and older and definitely not little anymore. it’s so bittersweet.

love-taza-whistler-8578m-6 hey whistler, you are a beautiful place! we loved visiting you! have a great weekend, everyone!

ps. my black mesh swimsuit (on sale!, also love it in white here), sunglasses here and my striped turtleneck dress here.

Whistler looks like a dream! I loved seeing your snaps while you were there and the pics are even better.
Your kiddos are got some serious boat this summer…..how lucky are they?!
I love that you and Josh always take the kids with you on trips. You make it look so easy and give me reassurance that I’m not crazy to take my son with me everywhere…..my friends think I’m crazy to take him on all my trips. Love your cute little family!

Oh I’m so jealous of your whole BC trip! I visited whistler in the Winter a few years a go and loved it! The whole time I was there I kept hearing that it’s even better in the summer so I’m dying to go back! I just can’t make up my mind about what season to go in…first world problem, I know :/

  7. Gabi

    Beautiful pictures, beautiful family!

  8. Alison

What a gorgeous place! I’ve never been to Whistler but now I’m putting it on the top of my list!

You should do a post just on the kid’s photos – I would love to see the world from their perspectives!

Looks like the kids had a blast! So much fun. And it’s great that you will have all these photos of great family time when they’ve grown up.

  10. Naomi! You have some serious Michelle Obama arms going on! Really motivating me to get to the gym myself…

  11. Mallory

I live a very short drive away from Whistler, yet I have only been there a handful of times in my life. This post inspired me for a Fall Saturday day trip sometime soon!

  12. Delaney

We missed you guys by just a couple weeks! Isn’t Whistler amazing?! I just put a bunch of our photos on the blog too – did you take the gondolas at all?

  13. Woo it looks so beautiful up there!! What a fun little video too :) thanks so much for sharing! x

  14. Shannon

I’m glad you guys had such a good time in my home province. Even though I do love my new home in England, I miss BC every day. I’ll be going back very soon for a visit and your photos have gotten me feeling excited to head back. Thank you for sharing them!

  15. Siobhan

Aw I love this! Your kiddos are sooo adorable!
I love your honesty and openness on your nursing journeys. My littlest is turning one (today actually) and I wonder how it will differ as we go to another place in nursing. When and how will weaning occur? Will he nurse less time or longer than my older son? It is SO bittersweet. Every ending means a beautiful new beginning but an end is still the end and it’s hard (for my anyhow) to think of letting go.

  16. Jessica

I’m feeling you on the bittersweet weaning! My youngest weaned at 15 months (almost a year ago!) and sometimes when I’m holding him I still miss it! It’s such an amazing part of motherhood ❤️ Glad you had a good experience with it as well!

  17. Alexa

This is a really personal question, so my apologies if it is too much — I am wondering if you breastfed continuously from Samson to Conrad. I remember you tandem nursing E and S, I’m just wondering if this is the first time you’ve been totally weaned since having babies? And, if so, how that’s been for you. Just asking as we consider spacing (as much as we’ll be able to control it anyway, which I know won’t be totally up to us). Thank you!

  18. Sydney

Hey! If you liked Whistler, I would recommend heading to Banff, Canada sometime. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is an outstanding property – definitely one of the most beautiful places we’ve been.

  19. Darlene

Okay visiting Canada has never been That high on my travel list, but after seeing these posts…Im sold! Especially this lake! My three would LOVE this

  20. Brie

You’ve inspired me to get my son a little camera! I love that they gave neck straps. I haven’t gotten up to Whistler this summer. I should take a day trip soon!

  21. Alexia

Thank you for posting about breastfeeding. You share your experience so well, no preaching or judgement or, on the flip side complaining. It’s fantastic.

  22. Tessa

These pictures are so beautiful! Looks like a dream to visit!

Completely feeling you, my first born is also officially weaned this week, at 17 months! I’m due again in February so it’s not the end by a long shot for me, but I will be missing our moments of just us for a long time yet. With so many ups and downs of extended breastfeeding it’s amazing to be able to look back on it so fondly. Go you mumma! Enjoy wearing real bras again and any clothes you wish, without contemplating access!

  23. devi

hi Naomi! how did you weaned Conrad, did you just tell him to stop breastfeeding or were there any treatment to wean without drama(s)?

  24. Pam

What a gorgeous place, Canada is definitely on my bucketlist!
You and your family are breathtakingly beautiful♥

I’ve been following your blog for YEARS before you had Eleanor, and I love seeing the world through you and your family’s eyes. You guys are great parents, and I love how your kids treat each other. That’s definitely a product of how you’re raising them.

And here’s a random request: Since you’ve started heading back to the gym, will you ever write a blog post about your routine or what you like to do? You look great!

  26. Veronica

    Hi Naomi!
How do you now to travel that school has started?
Do you have some problems now with your work?

    • josh

Hi Veronica! This post is from a few weeks ago before school started when we visited Canada. Sorry to confuse you!

  27. Ashley

I just recently started following your blog and I cannot get enough. Your videos of Italy actually inspired my next trip to Europe! One question I did have was about renting a car there. We are planing on starting at Como Lake and riding down to coast and I was wondering how easy was parking there? Thanks :)

      Hi Ashley,

Thanks for following along! So happy to hear we have helped inspire your trip!

When we were in Italy, we parked at our hotels instead of on the street. Most hotels have some sort of option for parking. When you search for hotels on various booking sites, you can usually filter for parking as one of the amenities or features you might like. And then you can check the pricing; it could be free or super expensive.

      Hope that helps!
      Josh

I loved this video and the video from the previous post. Canada looks really nice. You are so lucky! I’ve read the comment of a reader asking for school. I think that if you have the opportunity of travelling although school has started, you should do it. Obviously, children have to go to school, but at that age the most important for them is the time with their family. These experiences you offer them are priceless. They don’t have exams every week by the moment! I don’t have children by the moment but i’d be very lucky if I could offer them this experiences or similars. You are a family reference for me. Enjoy!
Sorry again if my English is not very good, but I am from Spain.

  29. Quite possibly the cutest family travel video and pics! Looks and sounds like you had such a fun time together. :)

I’m having such severe arm envy. For some reason no matter how much I work out I can’t get decent tone on my arms, they just seem to get skinnier. Its a real problem.

  31. yay! glad you loved visiting my province! whistler is pretty spectacular and happy you spent some times there. next time you need to spend a few days in Vancouver, so many great places to eat and fun activities for the kiddos :)

    Hi Naomi,
Was wondering how you weaned? I’m still nursing my 12 month old and she is waking multiple time during the night. I love nursing too it’s just getting hard to function after a year with no sleep!! I don’t know how you do it and manage to look so great and put together in the process!!
Any advice would be great! I feel like maybe it’s easier when they understand it better. Not sure.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jen :)

  33. Ellie

Oh my goodness, I totally teared up seeing that picture. I keep going back and forth about wanting and not wanting to wean our little Eleanor. She’ll be 2 in December and I still can’t bring myself to do it. Did Conrad keep asking for it? And if he did, how did you handle it? I’m going to be such a mess when the time comes. i may just nurse her well into college! haha

  34. Karina

    love love love you´re photos!
    kiss!
