i know i shared a bit on social media the other week about our time in san diego, but i finally got around to putting together a little video from our trip and also going through all the photos (brace yourselves, there are a lot!). we feel so fortunate to get to be working with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts right now, and loved getting to check out their property at Fairmont Grand Del Mar in san diego. you’ll notice from the photos and videos that the property is truly spectacular. it has this old world charm, with the most beautiful mediterranean aesthetic and design. i felt like i was in italy or france walking down some of those beautiful tiled corridors, which of course made it feel extra special and fun. a really magnificent place.
a little video we made:
a few highlights and favorite things we saw, ate and enjoyed below!
we enjoyed a picnic dinner and game of bocce one evening on the back lawn. the kids had so much fun playing bocce, we might need to invest in our own set and play a few games this summer in central park. (also, a million thank you’s to the man walking by seeing me taking photos and offering to take a few so i could hop in the frame with the family!)
by the end of the evening, these two were bocce professionals!
i spy with my little eye, JOSH!
when we forget to pack our floaties and are just a tad bit behind in the learning to swim department (city kids), we all pile onto mom and i get to be the floaty.
we had such a great meal at the cottage while in la jolla! the crab cake sandwich (which isn’t on the menu, but the waitress told us about it) was amazing. also, the scones. so.good.
the beach might be considered chilly to californians this time of year, but since we’ve had to pull the coats back out in new york this week, 60 degrees felt like beach weather to us! we were all over it!
his first bites of prosciutto and melon were a success! josh was proud.
also, not pictured here, but we had the best vegetable risotto at Amaya while staying at Fairmont Grand Del Mar.
we arrived to three of the cutest cookies in our hotel room when we checked in.
and acai bowl shaped in ice cream scoops made it taste even better. ;) i pretended it was ice cream for a hot second there.
we visited the san diego zoo and caught a glimpse of one of their panda bears!
the kids got to enjoy their own cookie decorating class with Fairmont’s pastry chef jordan!
and we got to ride horses since Fairmont has a few on the property. this albino horse named ghost was so beautiful. have you ever seen such a beautiful horse?
and a little s’more making at the gazebo on one of our final nights in san diego!
a few other highlights from our time in san diego:
mentioned above, but we loved our meal at the cottage. we also ventured over to point loma seafoods one evening which was really tasty and a fun experience. we tried out phil’s bbq and also loved visiting el prado while at balboa park.
