it’s been such a great week, having my little sister hannah back in new york city! i’m so happy she and her husband have moved here! hannah and i actually lived in new york city for a few years together when we were younger, the first few years i was attending juilliard and she was finishing up her high school experience at school of american ballet. we lived in the same dorm building at lincoln center, even though we were studying at different programs. she’s 18 months younger than me, but she was my rock during a lot of my experiences during those years. lots of growing up was done here in the city with her by my side. it just feels right that she’s here once again, and having never lived near family since those first few college years with her in the city, it just makes me so happy we are finally getting this chance! ahh!
once hannah arrived last week, i thought it would be fun to have a sister-sister morning and do a fun little outing together. a few months ago, Nexxus New York Salon Care kindly invited me to attend the New York City Ballet fall gala with their global creative director kevin mancuso. i had such a good time and have been enjoying trying out some of their hair care products since the ballet. hannah and i started our sister-sister morning off by visiting Nexxus’ first-ever salon, the Nexxus New York Salon, which is in tribeca. the Nexxus team kindly treated us to customized hair treatments and kevin gave me a new hair cut involving bangs! (YES! the bangs are back!) we then hit up my absolute favorite place for pancakes, bubby’s, which just so happens to be right across the street! it’s like, could that block get any cooler?!
a few photos from our morning….
kevin pretty much felt my hair and prescribed their Emergencée reconstructing treatment! ha! the treatment helps reconstruct damaged hair by repairing the internal structure of fibers. between having colored it a lot, three babies (post partum hair is super fun – i’m kidding! it’s the worst) and being in the midst of winter, i was like, YES PLEASE! HELP ME! also, the Nexxus New York Salon has this cool interactive mirror that helps show your hair story, it assists kevin is choosing the best treatment for your hair, it was awesome. i also always love a good before and after photo, so that part was really fun!
one of the things that impresses me most about the Nexxus New York Salon Care brand is how focused they are finding movement within your hair. throughout my entire hair cut, kevin kept stepping back and having me shake my head around, watching how my hair would fall and then shaping it to keep the fluidity and movement still there. it was such a different experience. i loved it.
ps. these fancy intelligent, ergonomic chairs were insane! they also have the most incredibly designed sinks with neck rests that almost put me to sleep, it was so relaxing and comfy.
what’s up, sis?!
excited to have the bangs back! and excited to keep on keepin’ on when it comes to growing out the rest of my hair! even if it is taking a bajillion years. ;)
and then some, BUBBY’S!
and photobooth loving because, HELLO!
feels so good to get my pancake fix, have my sister by my side and also on a good hair day! a million thank you’s to Nexxus New York Salon Care for having us and also for sponsoring this post.
