we arrived home late last night from new orleans and i wanted to share the last of our photos from our time spent down south! once again, there are a quite a few! see the first post on new orleans HERE.
^^^for dinner one night, we ordered an entire red snapper fish to share at peche! the entire dinner experience reminded me of my grandpa who could catch and fillet a fish without a single bone in sight when i was little! i remember sitting beside him once watching in awe. josh and i weren’t as successful as my grandpa with our fish, but it was still a fun and delicious experience!^^^
^^^speaking of food, this little guy downed an entire bowl of gumbo everywhere we went! even the spicy stuff i couldn’t handle. my mama jaw dropped every single time. i don’t know where we got him from!^^^
^^^and this little girl, such a great travel companion. she takes everything in with such thought and asks so many questions as we see and do new things together. it makes traveling all the more special when you have these little ones to share it with. i really believe that. ^^^
(click the CLICK TO SEE MORE for the rest of the pictures. sorry once again, it’s just not my specialty to edit our pictures down to a few…)
^^^we spent our last morning together at the aquarium! i can’t remember the last time i’ve been inside one, so i felt like one of the kids the entire time. we saw an alligator, sharks, giant sea turtles, penguins being fed breakfast and other fish, too! eleanor has learned to say aquarium and has worked it into almost every conversation we’ve had since we left. :) ^^^
^^^eleanor wasn’t quite game, but samson was all about meeting and petting the sting ray! he squealed and laughed so loud as he felt them.^^^
^^^that guy in the blue shirt right there? that’s nicholas cage. haha. i was taking a picture of this building and didn’t look closely at the people standing underneath it. then we turned left and walked right by them on the sidewalk and it was like, ‘oh! there’s nick cage in full on camera make up.’ they were apparently filming a walking scene from a new movie called the runner. ^^^
^^^the french market was fun to walk through after breakfast one morning! ^^^
^^^samson and all the street performers! every time he heard a sax or guitar, even faintly from a few blocks away, he’d put his hand to his ear and say, “hear that?!” haha.^^^
^^^we enjoyed brunch at the ruby slipper on our last morning. we had the nicest waiter too, because it was one of those breakfasts where josh and i felt like we were dining with two little monkey’s, one of which spilt a glass of milk all over the table and on our waiter, and he was nothing but gracious and kind about it. ^^^
^^^we stayed at the windsor court hotel and loved it. the kids couldn’t get enough of the swimming pool and i couldn’t get enough of the little pralines they’d leave on our pillows when they turned down our sheets each night. ^^^
^^^we tried district donuts before we took off to the airport. someday i wanna be brave enough to try the red beans and rice flavored donut. i was not brave enough this trip. ^^^
^^^our friend finn was in new orleans this week as well filming a tv show, so we were able to spend time with him which always makes eleanor elated. she’s his biggest fan. ^^^
^^^we shared a plate of beignets at cafe du monde on our first night in new orleans. felt like a hot date too, since the kiddos had just fallen asleep in the stroller beside us for the evening. ;) ^^^
^^^this wreath reminded me of our old neighborhood in dc, capitol hill. i sure do miss that place and all those pretty door wreaths.^^^
^^^walking and window shopping on magazine street.^^^
^^^we had lunch at la petite grocery and if you go, you must get the blue crab beignets appetizer!^^^
^^^photo taken by samson! (he’s not quite strong enough to lift the camera off the table, so when he’s behind the lens everyone has to bend down and get into the frame accordingly . haha!) ^^^
^^^my travel buddies! wouldn’t have it any other way!!!^^^
