last week while in palm springs, we got to spend a few days with josh’s parents at the bnp paribas open! josh and i also got extra lucky when we got to sit down on the court for one of the men’s quarterfinals matches with these incredible sport photographers and their fanciest of fancy cameras and lenses while holding our smaller (but still awesome!) camera and iPhones while novak djokovic and julien benneteau played. ;) if you missed it on instagram, you can see this short video clip from my iPhone of novak literally making our jaws drop while waltzing back and forth on the court. it is worth watching!
this was such a fun experience to witness up close with josh! i feel like tennis is one of those sports that is just so much better to see in person. the physicality and athleticism blows my mind. i have gained such an appreciation of tennis over the years as my family loves to play and josh’s family does as well. i still haven’t figured out how to play without making a fool of myself, but i know how to enjoy watching, and that is something. haha. and hanging out at the bnp paribas tournament was a blast. let’s just say there were quite a few giant waffle ice cream cones shared and open spaces for the kids to play around in too.
^^^see what i mean about those lenses? serious stuff!^^^
^^^this woman’s feet propped up behind us kept catching my eye.^^^
^^^watching these guys move around on the court really inspired me. my body is not in shape the way it once was back in my dancing days. i’ve come to accept that it’s unlikely i will ever get my old abs back after these two kiddos, but it’d still be nice to to be in better shape. time to get a little bit more physical! ^^^
thanks for a fun afternoon, josh!
