holiday dessert party.

on christmas eve-eve, we had a few friends over for some dessert and christmas music. (a dessert party sounded like the perfect excuse to whip up all of the holiday treats i’ve been wanting to make!) but before we move onto some photos, i would like to take this opportunity to tell you that cake pops are the most torturous thing i have ever made and doubt i’ll be attempting them again anytime soon… or ever. (emma and emily made it look so easy.) i wanted to crawl under a rock and cry when my first batch turned out like this.
besides that sorry experience, we had a great time celebrating christmas with some music, conversation and of course, yummy treats.
hope everyone had a beautiful christmas holiday!

Your little girl's sweater is so freaking adorable! It looks like you finally got the cake pops right. You have to let them cool before you ice them, or the icing melts, haha. :] Don't worry, we've all had our mishaps in the kitchen. You don't need to be eating those anyway, sugar is anything but sweet to your health!

Those desserts look more than delicious! What a great idea to celebrate the Holidays with friends!

  14. Mine turned out exactly the same. Well it was red velvet cake pops and I guess they were too wet. I found out that you should take a little oil out of the cake and it'll make it a bit more dry. Then you put them in the freezer for like 20 minutes, dip your stick in the coating you want, stick it in the cake pop, freeze it again for a while, then hurry and coat the whole cake pop and stick in the fridge for an hour or two.

Hello, I'm not sure if anyone said this or not, but one trick when making cake pops is to put the balls into the freezer for a little while so they can harden after you shape them. Once they harden you take them out and put them on the stick and you can dip them and they hopefully won't become a mess again. That's how I do them.

  18. You look gorgeous. I love the little flower on Eleanor's hair. The pictures are really cute, looks like the perfect family ;)

    Looks like a fun night!

I've seen people make "quickie" cake pops with doughnut holes. They would be way easier and you could still decorate them the way you want.

  20. You have the most beautiful daughter ever, not just baby cute, but beautiful – something you definitely don't see everyday!

Started following your blog a week or two ago; absolutely love it!! And especially love Kingsley!! My old roommate had a mini English bulldog named Layla and its my dream to get one someday and name her Darla!!

Thanks so much for sharing your blog with the world!! You are inspiring!!
